The idea is there but.....
UPDATE- the drobo is not updating to the new 3.1.6, if that’s the current version available. It tries then get stuck. As for this app, as of Jan 2018, 98% of all pics backed up are corrupt jpegs and can’t be viewed in any program out there. Rendering this app, USELESS. Still looking for a solution. Will keep you all posted.

You never realize how many photos you have on these phones with their ever growing storage... I have over 8000 pictures on my iPhone 7. 😒. Setup as everyone says is simple. But as stated; the phone screen was on all night to backup pictures and videos. The app doesn't backup videos very well. There is no status bar so you don't know what the phones doing if the number of photos left doesn't move. It took over 7 hours to backup pictures. I hit the refresh button on the computer screen and I see its last backup was 4 hours ago. So I think the process is finished to its best ability. I'm going to mess around with this app and uploads a bit more. But I would have to say, All the ideas are there.... yet the technology is not yet up to par for the more simple people out there.
I already had to start over backing up my computers cause of a registry error... now problems with this picture backup app. 🤕🤕🤕🤒 not a good streak for drobo and I.
Totally messed up filenames
I imported over 2,000 images from my iPhone to the drobo this afternoon. It went pretty fast and I was pretty happy with how easy it was to set up. Then tonight I started sorting the items into folders with better names, since by default this app sorts them into Years, then Month sub folders.
At first I noticed things were a bit weird when the Month sub folders contained photos from multiple months. Whatever, that’s fine— every file has a time stamp name.
But then I started copying files into my own year/month folders, and I realized that all of them were wrong. It totally screws up the file time stamps. Some photos from December ended up with a June time stamp, some had the wrong year. Completely unusable.
I now have to delete all of these and re-import them manually. I’m deleting this app. Like most of Drobos other products, this one is long on promises and short on actual functionality.
Not ready for prime time
First off you have to not use your phone and leave the Drobo Pix app open to sync your photos. If you can endure that long process without using anything else on your phone you will be upset to know it will not finish because the app will hang when it loads the videos after the photos are completed. I left the app open all night when I slept. When I awoke not a single video had uploaded to my Drobo. Pass on this app until these issues are addressed.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
