We’d be lost without Dropbox—it’s an indispensable part of our digital toolbox. But for all its usefulness, the thing we appreciate most about this cloud-storage app is how little we have to think about it. Whether we’re sharing documents between devices, uploading photos directly from our camera, or emailing large files to friends, it all just works—seamlessly and effortlessly.
Great for transferring files from PC to mobile
I make a lot of things on my computer that I want to post to social media such as Instagram. However since you can only post videos through the mobile app I have had to transfer everything over. Before Dropbox I would email everything to myself, which took longer and filled up my inbox quickly. Then I got Dropbox. Now it’s as simple as pasting a file in the folder and ta-da! your files are in the drive. As for the app itself it is very clean and user friendly, people of all ages would be able to use the app without confusion. Also, I commend Dropbox for not putting any ads on their app! Ads cause so much clutter and annoyance, and since I’m on the free version, you’d think you’d have ads. But nope, this app is ad free! The only nit pick I can find is the small storage space of 2gb that comes with the free version. Granted this is plenty of storage for what I’m using, but for others who would like to use this for backing up their files would be able to store little content, especially videos which can be 2gb in it of itself. (For backing up media I’d go with Google Drive with 15gb of storage). But other than that, great experience! If you need something to easily transfer files from a computer to a mobile device, this app is for you!
Ok, so first off, I want to let the devs know that they did an amazing job making this app. It has a simple design, looks great, and is very user-friendly. One thing is that Google Drive offers 15GB for free, while I think Dropbox only offers 2GB. Maybe for the free version, upgrade that a little bit.
Anyway, I mainly use Dropbox over any other service, because I believe it's better, but I might have to switch to Google Drive for more free storage. The one thing that I would add to it, is shortcuts. For example, if I could have all my files in one big folder, and them scatter them across different folders using shortcuts to the same file, in the big folder. I use Dropbox to keep my music MP3's, but I can't have them in different floders without copying and pasting, which would take up twice the storage. I would have multiple folders, and ,for example, have my song in one folder, and another, without doubling the storage. I would want them both to point to the MP3 in the big folder with all my files, that I mentioned before. I would love to have this tool, and I'm sure a ton of others would. This would definitely bring you over the top better than the other cloud storage providers.
Thank you for making an awesome program for us to use!
Developer Response ,
Hey there, thanks so much for reviewing our app!
We’re happy to forward your feedback and suggestions to our team for their awareness.
Now, you can create shortcuts in your Dropbox folder, that link to files in another location in your Dropbox. As long as everything is contained there, and nothing is pointing to content outside of Dropbox, it should all sync.
Here’s a bit more info about these shortcuts https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/sync-uploads/symlinks.
We hope this helps!
