••• Sound Engines •••
8 individual 3-layer synth engines to design, shape and sculpt powerful drum hits.
Depth modulation area with envelopes, LFOs, and a complex modulation matrix to change most parameters using a wide array of sources.
Finest noise table conversion technology, followed by a filter, distortion and side chain compressor.
••• Sequencer •••
Enjoy smart randomization to create patterns that feel natural and organic and add some feeling to the pattern with swing and 'humanization'.
Move various parameters along to match the notes, such as velocity, pitch, decay, probability, roll and offset.
••• Kit Page •••
Bring all the individual sounds together in one place, select new sound presets or even randomly generate new sounds based on various sound type profiles and give your kit some character, punch and an analogue feel!
••• Mix •••
With Volume, Mute, Solo, Pan as well as two reverb return channels you can send any of your sounds to at any time and also assign the mixer parameters as modulation destinations.
The Room reverb gives you a nice familiar space, letting you glue together multiple drum sounds, while the Hall reverb gives a massive space you can use either as a utility, or as way to fire your sounds off into the cosmos!
••• Mapping •••
Create up to 16 individual patterns (from scratch, or using the easy copy/paste function), and chain these together into a sequence, up to 16 patterns long. Use your MIDI keyboard or controller to send values that quickly and seamlessly switch between patterns on the fly.
Quickly remove and add the individual hits, trigger rolls of different speeds, or even have them as pitch modifiers.
••• Auto- and Manual Remixing/Fills •••
Mash up your patterns with one simple parameter and produce all sorts of automatic and random edits to your sound.
Add creative fills and variations to your loop to keep it constantly moving with fresh ideas - great for jamming or to prevent audio stagnation.
••• Wavetable/Resynth Import & Sampler •••
Import your own audiofiles to create Wavetables. Resynthesize Hihats, Snares, even Chords with the Resynth import feature or wwitch to Sampler mode to play back samples the ordinary way.

Fantastic on desktop and maybe more fun on iOS
Edit: I was able to get it working by continually tapping the standalone app icon until it opened. Then went to settings (gear in upper right) - advanced - midi - destinations and turned those options off. Opens everytime now.
Sugar Bytes are very good with support and any bugs in my experience. As you can see they responded and will fix what doesn’t appear to be a big deal. iOS 14.2 just dropped and must have caused a very minor issue. The app is fine... and it’s so good.
I’ve used everything from MPCs, Maschine, Elektron gear, Battery, Guru. This is an absolute beast! 👌
Had it running in standalone, left iPad and came back and it crashed. Have restarted iPad, reinstalled etc and it now won’t open.
Developer Response ,
Yes, we are aware of this issue which is iPadOS 14.2 related only. At least the AUv3 should work without any problems. Anyway, we will of course come up with a fix for that in our next upcoming version. Thanks for your patience!
Gorgeous GUI, Clever, Powerful Synthesis
This is a very deep and complex app and they’ve done an amazing job of providing a logical, nice-looking layout. The feature-set and sounds are amazing.
Because controls are so tightly spaced, it can be difficult to use. For example, there are per-step sliders that give you incredible control over your sequence! Each slider is very short (1.5 cm), and difficult to control. If you are trying to move it slightly, it wants to center automatically. It shows the value as you adjust, but your finger blocks the value as you move.
The chain function only has 16 non-repeating slots- which is an unfortunate limitation. If you are clever, you can make longer sequences using slower tempos and faster step rates.
The way Sugar-Bytes provides randomize functions throughout the app is fantastic and may set a new standard!
Editing is a bit fiddly with tiny hard to read/use controls, but overall, it’s a very fun and powerful app.
Sounds good, but CPU HOG.
I get a lot of crackling just running by itself. I also own the Mac version and it is great, but this version not so much. Hopefully they fix the performance issues. Price is kinda high too considering you will be a beta tester until they work the bugs out. No introduction price? I just want to add that I do love Sugar Bytes and all of there work. They’re awesome. I do own all there Mac plugins and they are in a league of there own. Top Notch no doubt.
For reference I am using a iPad Air 2-iOS 13.7 with plenty of free space and no other apps open on a fresh restart.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
