Love concept but has constant accuracy errors

I love to utilize this app in my cognitive therapy pts; however I find that the accuracy provided in the app is always incorrect.
If I knew that this app would provide more accuracy for my pts I would utilize it more for them to complete home practice.
So basically I cannot recommend this app with its current inaccuracies.

My Fav N-Back Game

I’ve played almost every day for the last 43 days, usually at least 20 times. There is a Mathematical n-back game that helped me get comfortable in moving from the third level to the fourth. Together they rock! If I had to pick one, this would still be it. Be patient. I get to level 5 every day, but I still haven’t reached 6. Level 3 is very comfortable and fun now. I do chess puzzles and a crossword every day also, but this is the most important one for me. Note: If you exercise, HIIT cardio every day keeps me improving on this faster and makes this less uncomfortable to do. The other n-back game I mentioned is speed based, but it waits for you to respond; you can regularly reach new speed records and compare yourself with everyone who has ever played. That part is really motivating.

I’d give it 5 stars if…

…they would add a manual N level setting feature.
I know they believe that people learn better with automatic N levels and that it discourages people from using memory tricks.
The problem with that assumption is they aren’t taking into account neurodiversity.
Brains come in a variety of models. And age ranges. Not everyone learns best with their sink-or-swim style of learning.
For me, the automatic N levels make this app a truly miserable exercise in constantly failing down. I learn best slowly with repetition. Before I can get any traction on a level I’m bumped up to the next level where I flounder and fail down. I never get any traction on that next level. It’s like being rewarded for achievement with failure.
I’ve tried this game on and off for years and I’ve never improved.
Worse, it’s made me feel so discouraged that I had to delete the app because just seeing on my screen was making me feel like I was back in grade school, an undiagnosed dyslexic, being told by the teacher that I just wasn’t trying. Hard pass! I now know how to try smarter.
I found another similar app that does let you manually set the N levels. What a difference. I actually look forward to using it. It doesn’t have as good a UI. This app has the best, I’ll give them that.
But those automatic N levels are the deal breaker.
Hey Devs, trust your users to know their best learning styles.

We call this app “Sexy N Back”

Ok...I can’t the only one here people. The woman’s voice they used as the game continues on sounds more intently um more excited as you get better? I had my friends listen to it and they agreed. I downloaded a few others and realized that the added um bonus could possibly make my brain grow faster so I’m sticking with this one. Thank you to the lady who did the voice over. My scores are amazing and I’m scoring better on exams.

They also updated it so it’s even cooler now.

Please add entire alphabet

Would love to support and pay for premium. Only improvement holding me back is the lack of certain letters. Please add the entire alphabet and will go premium.

Other less vital improvement suggestions. Would pay for these features.
- Option to adjust the daily completion goal to be less than 20
- Add a calendar to check off completions each day, this helps to motivate habit

The only good free dual n-back app

There appear to a number of paid dual n-back apps out there, but this is the only one I've found that is solely ad-supported. It's minimal, doesn't let you change sound sets or do any other customization but it's free! And it works great. Totally solid!
I would love the ability to change sound sets though, as a musician I'd like to be able to use notes of the scale instead of letters.

So far love it! Will see if benefits come later

I love the minimalist design. I wouldn’t recommend changing that or I might not use the app anymore. I care more about seeing if playing the game truly improves my working memory.

I’ll play it for a few months probably to see what happens. Finally can near perfectly do N=2, and now am aiming to perfect 3.

The research is controversial on if this truly works, but at least it isn’t completely unsupported. I guess I’ll find out for myself! :)

^(sidenote: it always seems like psychology is still a a field with very many unknowns that we are trying to discover. So, in a way, by trying the app we are on the frontier of new discoveries!

Inaccurate scoring

Bummed because I really wanted to use this on a daily basis to improve my memory, but It won’t let me get past the first test. First test I get perfect scores and then on the second one I get everything wrong. I know this is wrong because I did trial and error 3 times to see if I was missing something but it doesn’t count the ones I know I got right. Unfortunately I can’t use this app if I can’t get past the 2nd level so I will be deleting. Great idea, just need some bug fixes.

Not quite sure what you mean by first and second test. Make sure that
you have understood how the game works by going through the tutorials
in the Help section of the game please.

Awesome!

This game is great. I find it to be pretty difficult. I didn’t understand it even after I walked through the tutorial 3 times. It started to click after just playing for a bit. Im getting better every time I play. Thanks.

Great, stop complaining about the stupidest things.

People are upset about the way that you cannot customize this. Truthfully, all i wanted was an app to help me maintain my genius IQ or possibly grow it. And this does just that and i am okay with that.
