Editors’ Choice

Skeletons, ghouls, and … zombie cows? The world of Dungelot is packed with some strange characters, but that doesn’t make them any less dangerous. As you tap blocks to explore creepy, crawly levels, the game will make you laugh out loud with its self-referential jokes and absurd monsters. Navigating each grid-like stage requires a smart use of power-ups and a little luck—but thanks to randomized drops, retrying is always fun.

One Small Bug

I have an iPhone 6S Plus and when playing in portrait mode the picture is cut off at the edges of the screen. The game's still playable and it doesn't obstruct any of the game's functions but it can be distracting sometimes. The game is also playable in landscape mode but the text and buttons are too small for a successful play session. Other than that, this is an excellent game and is well worth the price. It's not "luck based" as some reviews have said. It's risk/reward based. The types of advantages you get all depend on the amount of risk you're willing to take. Great game.

Bad luck

I’ve never played a game where the rng was so consistently and catastrophically skewed against the player. Not just “aw man, I still didn’t get whatever” but “aw man, I’m dead again, 3 dungeons into the 20 dungeon run...again.” Some people consider this a challenge I guess, I don’t, I just think it’s needlessly frustrating.

The graphics are cute, the gameplay is moderately fun, it would probably be a top game for me if I could play longer at a stretch without dying (if they added some sort of difficulty slider so the die-hard challenge lovers could bang their heads to their hearts’ content against the rng and more casual players could just like... kill some time seeing what the game designers got up to in the further levels?). From the other reviews *eventually* all the dying let’s you build up enough stuff to counter *some* of the horrendous luck but I don’t see myself playing long enough to find out. Level-level-dead, rinse and repeat from the beginning forever, isn’t much to get excited over.
