With its friendly approach and awesome updates, Duolingo’s long been one of our favorite apps for learning another language. Its secret: making the process genuinely fun. Engaging mini-games test your reading, writing, and speaking skills, and joining a club (where you can encourage and compete with others) adds a great social element. Bonus: all those languages and games are available for free!

Duolingo is incredible

I never thought I could learn more than three languages sense prior to downloading Duolingo I specked 2 languages fluent. ever since I made my first account on Duolingo I’ve learned German Spanish and on my second account I’m learning Japanese. currently I speak four languages fluently and I am learning Japanese as my fifth. I really appreciate that on the free account even when you lose all your hearts you can still get them back by doing exercises on that certain language. Matter fact if super Duolingo only gave you infinite hearts I personally wouldn’t have tried it out because when you lose the hearts you need to work to get them back which just helped me learn languages way faster. but super Duolingo not only offers you infinite hearts but also AI lessons based on your mistakes and a new feature where you listen to stuff I haven’t tried it out yet so I can’t say much about it but what I can say is I’m looking forward to trying out. if you’re like me and you just need something to keep you busy and and exercise your brain or Learning it for jobs or just for fun I truly believe that Duolingo is the best option out there specially for beginners that are not sure if they want to pay for an app to learn a language. so the free account on Duolingo is amazing and I highly recommend it for beginners. thank you folks at Duolingo for making such a incredible app and making a widely available for anyone to try it out. good luck letting your next language 🍀🙏

Italiano è buono

I love Duolingo, but I can’t stand the child’s voice and one particular man’s voice. The child’s voice is often unintelligible while accompanied by poor audio. The man’s voice I mentioned is ridiculously fast for students who are trying to learn proper pronunciation of a new language. I often have to intentionally fail the lessons to find out what these two are saying. There is a woman’s voice used for the majority of the examples in the comment section that is clear and articulate. I always listen to her example to practice my pronunciations. The comment section is closed. It is helpful to read the comments, but it is impossible to ask questions or leave new comments. I highly recommend Duolingo as a beginner language course.

Update, Duolingo starts out promising, but once you get past the basics you’ll soon find yourself translating random sentences that lack any sort of conversational context. Duolingo is a game designed to keep you engaged. There are much better apps for learning languages that will teach you to speak conversationally. Duolingo is not one of them. That being said, I still participate in Duolingo daily, but I’ve made astounding progress using another app after over 225 days of Duolingo that taught me nothing about having basic everyday conversations. It’s like doing a crossword puzzle. You learn a lot of words without engaging in any sort of conversation. Isn’t having conversations what language is all about?
