What’s New

Version 1.1.10

NEW FEATURES
* Improved UI for the Functional Keyboard
* New "dynamic" setting for the spacing of notes on the staff
* The staff shown when editing question made of a library score now uses the new "dynamic note spacing" setting. Before that, it was time proportional, which made it difficult to use with 16th and 32nd notes.
* Notes that fill the whole bar are now placed closer to the center of the bar, as recommended in "Behind Bars" p. 39. This happens only in "Dynamic note spacing" notation mode and when exactly one voice is visible.
* Adds a "Back" button to the "Lesson Finish" page.
* Improved Cloud login window

FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS
* Fixes an error message that would be displayed if "auto evaluation" was enabled and you pressed the "Evaluate" button while playing/singing a tone
* Melodic dictation: tones would be removed when dragged during playback.
* Fixes an error in clapping exercises: if double-claps were recorded with Mic input, then an error would be shown when playing your answer.
* Results for customized exercise always showed "No Completed attempts"
* Fixes a problem with melodies made of only one tone, which could sometimes be outside the chosen scale (non-diatonic).
* Fixes a problem with staff labels overlapping with the first notes on the staff.

EarMaster is a fantastic ear training app!

The developers have done an amazing job creating a useful, versatile, and cost-effective app for musicians and novices alike. I have used EarMaster daily for the past four months (from anywhere between 5 and 25 minutes per day), and my ability to hear chords, intervals, and progressions has improved substantially. This app has played a key role in getting me back into music after a break of more than 16 years.

The cloud version is well worth it, in my opinion. There are a few exercises where the use of the iPhone is just not feasible (i.e., there are 42 choices in the “all chords - mixed” lesson of the Jazz Workshops, so you would need the tiniest of styluses to even be able to make a selection on the smaller screen), so in those cases, I use the iPad mini. But this is a very minor gripe. It’s a fantastic app with frequent updates and a great user interface, and the content is top-notch. Bravo, and thank you, EarMaster!

Chiddychat ,

BEST ON THE MARKET. YOU NEED THIS.

I never write reviews. This is my first ever. But when an app comes along that changes the way I practice, helps the way I teach, and provides a new way of hearing music, I couldn’t help but do a review. The exercises are so well thought out, and have so much to offer both the complete beginner and the most world class musicians alike. Being an instructor at Nashville Music Academy, I can say this app has developed my ear and my students ear to a level that would have taken many more years to develop, if at all, without it. Do yourself a favor, take the step, make the commitment to complete all the exercises, and watch yourself grow as a musician like you never thought possible. Albeit this is a tool, and what you do with it is up to you, but through this training you can truly take the phrase “if you can hear it, you can play it” to heart. Thank you to the entire EarMaster team.

Thanks a lot for your kind words!

Visible improvement

It’s an extremely useful app, I can see an obvious improvement after about three weeks of using it. I’m currently using the exercises (after purchasing the bundle). It’s really worth the money imho. One thing I’ve noticed though that I didn’t like so far is in the Chord inversions exercise when I make a mistake whether it was an augmented chord and not a diminished one, it logically should show the difference between the different chord types for the SAME key in my opinion and not based on the first note you hear. Or is there some kind of a setting where this can be changed?
Otherwise, so far, I’m a very happy user. I use it daily for 45-60 minutes doing two rounds of each exercise type in my current exercise set.
