Description
Get valuable insights of your general wellbeing and heart health, using the ECG+ app along with your Apple Watch.
ECG+ integrates with Apple Health to unleash the greatest power of your Apple Watch ECG, by analyzing and calculating heart rate variability (HRV) out of your ECG data, which is widely considered one of the best objective metrics for physical fitness and determining your body’s readiness to perform. Additionally, ECG+ app also provides detailed analysis of heartbeat intervals, including QT/QTc, which is an important indicator of your heart's electrical activity.
HRV refers to the variation in time between successive heartbeats, which is an indicator of the health of the autonomic nervous system. QT interval refers to the time it takes for the heart to recharge between beats, which is important for assessing cardiac health.
With HRV trends you can learn your health level changes. A up hill trend means a better physical fitness level and a down hill indicates you should pay more attention to your overall health. With QT trends you can monitor closely your QT intervals over a period of time and seek healthcare attention whenever a prolonged QT is identified automatically.
Things you can do about your ECG data -
1. Measure intervals and voltages on the ECG rhythm waves
2. Calculate HRV (using RMSSD)
3. View Poincaré plot / R-R interval plot
4. HRV trends
5. Generate PDF report with HRV info
6. Send your ECG report to your healthcare provider
So what is HRV?
HRV is a measure of your autonomic nervous system that is widely considered one of the best objective metrics for physical fitness and determining your body’s readiness to perform.
Although HRV manifests as a function of your heart rate, it actually originates from your nervous system. Your autonomic nervous system, which controls the involuntary aspects of your physiology, has two branches, parasympathetic (deactivating) and sympathetic (activating).
The parasympathetic branch (often referred to as “rest and digest”) handles inputs from internal organs, like digestion or your fingernails and hair growing. It causes a decrease in heart rate. The sympathetic branch (often called “fight or flight”) reflects responses to things like stress and exercise, and increases your heart rate.
Heart rate variability comes from these two competing branches simultaneously sending signals to your heart. If your nervous system is balanced, your heart is constantly being told to beat slower by your parasympathetic system, and beat faster by your sympathetic system. This causes a fluctuation in your heart rate: HRV.

What’s New
Version 1.5.4
People with heart conditions should monitor their QT intervals because prolonged QT intervals can lead to serious cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac arrest. This is where ECG+ comes to play if you happen to own an Apple Watch.
In addition to regular monitoring, the ECG+ app offers a convenient way for users to calculate their QT intervals and track their readings over time. The app can also automatically alert users when a prolonged QT interval is detected, allowing for prompt medical attention and treatment. With these features, ECG+ provides an added layer of protection and peace of mind for those with heart conditions.
Ratings and Reviews
Great App!
I am new to Apple Watch. Little did I know that the day after I got the watch and had put this app on it, I would be using it to check my heart. I had a slow heart rate with some premature ventricular contractions that did not perfuse and was short of breath and did not feel well. I know that you can’t use a strip like this to diagnose but I ended up going to the hospital and it let the doctor know more about what I was experiencing. I had printed copies of several of my episodes. The doctors and nurses were impressed that the ecg tracing was so good coming from a watch. Thank you!!
Developer Response ,
Thanks for your review and we are thrilled that it helped you in a very positive way.
Great device re. ECG
The only problem is if you have an athletes hear you can’t get an afib. reading under a pulse of 50. Athletes heart rates resting are 30 and above. Apple needs to change that. It’s not as accurate as it could be therefore excluding many people. Love to exercise. Endorphins are the best drug out there for everything 🙂
Great app in addition to Apple’s!
I like using this in addition to Apple’s report because it’s a bit easier to see and visualize. I can still send either report to my doctor no problem.
