I was loathe to splice wire on my new truck so I tried this thing. This has actually worked well for me once I figured out a few things. I have a 2020 Ford Ranger, and if I change the lights to anything other than “auto” setting the trailer lights go kind of … haywire. Once I figured that out it’s worked fine, although it seems to have some issues reconnecting to my phone if it hasn’t been used in a while. It applies the brakes, is easy to adjust on the fly, and the manual activation works well.I’ve never updated the app since I installed it 1.5 years ago, it seems most people have issues with the later versions. I plan on using it until it doesn’t work before upgrading.

Absolute garbage. Would give it negative stars if able. Worked for a couple trips, updated app, now it always keeps the brakes on rendering it completely useless and dangerous. Now I’m stuck with my camper being unable to move because it keeps the brakes locked on for no reason. Worthless product for the money we spent. Do not buy this, get the old school brake controller wired to your truck.UPDATE:Just got off the phone with their “customer service” rep, who actually informed he works in the garages and isn’t actually customer service. Worst experience I’ve had talking to someone. I explained the situation that the brakes only get stuck on using this garbage controller, it’s getting electricity fine, etc. He said I had to buy a test light to troubleshoot, wouldn’t explain how that would actually help and instead of honoring the warranty, eventually said he’d do a one time warranty to send a new one but then I was on my own even if it didn’t work. Unreal, do yourself a favor and don’t buy this part.

From plugging the device in and connecting to Bluetooth on my phone, it took all of 30 seconds. The device works flawlessly for me without any connectivity issues like others have reported here. While I also think an Apple Car Play App would be awesome, I generally have my navigation on my cars screen and the Echo app on my phone so I’m not knocking a star off for this because it’s my preferred setup. I’m very pleased with how well the device and app work together and am confused by the bad reviews. Perhaps the bad reviews are from defective units? We all know that those that have a gripe are much more likely to write a review than those that are pleased with a product. Consider me an exception, I’m very happy with my purchase.

I used this for 3 years with no problem. Used it in May with no problems. Changed TV and using same wiring harness on a different TV now the app can’t find the co troller. Called customer service multiple times got same story that it is something with Apple cloud not the controller. Called Apple to get help, they said nothing they can do. It sounds like an app problem call the app developer. Contacted the developer. After two emails back and forth still no functioning brake co troller and leaving in the morning on a 7 hour trip. Hopefully nothing significant happens. Thought highly of this app and co troller when new. Now, not so much
