Poorly designed software
Edelkrone charges a premium for their products and l paid a premium because l’ve seen their promotional videos. The hardware Edelkrone makes has a lot of potential but their software does not. For an example, if a firmware update is available, you have NO CHOICE but to stop everything you are doing and update the firmware. There is also no telling if the firmware update will be successful and it may take two or three attempts. I have other camera equipment that get updates but l am notified instead of being forced to update. Other camera manufacturers like DJI fully understands that updates can wait because there may be other things going on that are more important than updating at the very exact moment. l have refrained from using my Edelkrone equipment for certain shots because the auto updates are like a ticking time bomb. l have done the most recent update. Apparently Edelkrone has removed the feature to allow you to use both their head unit and their slider together. This was a great feature but now it’s gone and you can only pick ONE device to use at a time. l’ve been using this setup for a year now and l can no longer use it the way it used to work or as ADVERTISED. If DJI were to compete against Edelkrone and make the same equipment, Edelkrone would go bankrupt. My Edelkrone equipment was good at first but the software updates are making my equipment closer to be unusable.
I own the slide module, head plus, laser module and focus module. First the app will not bundle the headplus and slide module. And I already opened a ticket. But since there is phone support and everything is handled online. It’s already very frustrating. I mean this equipment costs a couple of grands. It should work.
Now my other problem is the laser module. The app should have a target option to use the laser. But for some insane reason. There is no target option. How can I target an object with the laser module if there is no target option!!
I opened another ticket... and my first one is not solved yet.
Will update you on the issue if solved.
This is frustrating
So much potential
Very nice piece of hardware, hampered by mediocre software. The last update had a firmware update embedded that broke the hardware completely. They released an update quickly to solve the problem, but there is no reason to have ever released The software with that kind of bug. The response I got from support was apologetic but said don’t do auto updates on your iPhone. Well, I don’t auto update apps on my phone and what kind of a lousy excuse is that anyway. You desperately need an option that gives you the choice of when to install firmware updates. This update totally trashed an opportunity to do a motion lapse using my Headone Device. That is completely unacceptable. You also need real user manuals. The manuals as they’re called today are simply videos that only cover the very basics anyway. Edelkrone has the potential for superb Products, but if they don’t get their software problems straightened out and get some support that is actually feasible their reputation will quickly deteriorate to the point where no one will ever buy their products.
