I like to take the time to at least rate free apps using the stars above. I feel this is the least we can do for them giving us something free. I rarely write a review however, mainly because the iPad2 I am using, runs rather slow, as I have tons of apps and info packed on it, and it is getting old. But, when credit is due, like with this app., I felt obligated to write a review. This is a beautifully constructed app. They did not leave out ANYTHING!! So easy to use, and loaded with accurate and up-to-date info. Just amazing! It makes you wonder how they can give these apps for free? I don't remember seeing any advertising in the app at all. I could be wrong, bc I did leave pretty quickly to write this review. But at any rate...so awesome! I highly recommend this app to anyone and everyone regardless of age or gender. I am am a 43 yr old female who knows little to nothing about vehicles. And with this app, you don't have to know anything. It tells you everything you need to know plus SO much more. Thanks so much! I will be letting friends and family know to get this app.!
I'm not sure when Edmunds' current app for auto research and buying came into existence, but- in my opinion- it should really be taken back to the drawing board. And soon...Take for a moment the ability to do auto research (now). Try to search for all diesels or hybrids. Buzz... fail! Try drilling down to a specific model- where I think the selection wheel and steps necessary to get to desired results is painful. For example- BMW Z4 "is" model.... select BMW, then Z4, then year, then "Next" to a page displaying Z4. But you're not done yet as the user must select whatever info pops up to reach yet another screen- which is one of the worst use of buttons I think I've seen in 20+ years of critiquing interface design. Oh, oops... still not to the desired Z4 yet... click on one of nine buttons- hoping you get what you're looking for. Reviews? Nope. Crap, how do I go back? Ok, got it. Photos? Nope, wrong again! Pricing? Maybe... I can see the model I'm looking for, but not the info. I kinda want to know about the car before I look at price. One last try, Features & Specs... ah yes, there it is!I won't extend my review to include the previous app design, but I truly hope Edmunds gives this one a little more thought. And something a bit more forward, too- like connecting with your other app "Inside Line." After all, Words With Friends and Hanging With Friends (games) are inter-connected- why not do the same with an app that is- or could be- quite helpful?
The Edmunds app has a lot of fantastic information on it, but ever since they upgraded it a few months ago, you have to take extra steps to look at the car you are interested in.Previously, you would look up, for example, BMW 328d--the voila! You would see the Edmunds review AND see used and new cars for sale. Now, some bright bulb at Edmunds decided to separate the "Research" aspect of it from the "Shop" aspect, and you now have many more clicks to do your research/shopping on the car you are interested in. You have to click on "Research", look up BMW 328d, read about car. Then if you want to see what cars are for sale. You would then have to go back out of "Research", click on "Shop", and once AGAIN, choose the car you were just researching on! Makes no sense, Edmunds, to give us extra steps. Frustrating. Your app used to be great; now it's good. Please change.
New layout makes it more difficult to do a new search, whereas the old one was always at the top. That was very nice if you (like me) are trying to decide on suv or sedan vs crossover. No more quick criteria selection from one page. Now it’s basically having to starting a new search each time and go thru multiple steps. Really off putting. Also, before you could see, say, all sedans and suv from Buick, vw, and ford, all on one search. Now, it seems you have to stick within the body type then backtrack thru many page swipes to start a new search for a different body type. Also, you can only save searches for inventory, not for initial research, so one must go thru all the paces each time! Used the old app to both research and buy a car 2 years ago. I’m in the market for a car right now and this is just not as useful tool this time around. Poor update that made a very nice app much more complicated and, for me, essentially unusable.
The "Used/New" car search option is really annoying. If you're looking at a "new" car and change the option to "used", you have to re-select the make and model. Why can't the app just remember the make and go back to the top of the list if the make no longer exists? Further, when the app was redesigned a while back, they removed the ability to swipe left and right to see cars in your history. This was incredibly handy when quickly comparing vehicle specs (legroom, vehicle dimensions, etc.). Now, you must go to the "recent searches" and navigate to the specs. This is a real pain when you are comparing dimensions for multiple cars (as someone who is cross-shopping is inclined to do). I emailed edmunds, and they said this feature was removed on purpose and it will not return. Can you please add this back? Why make your app more difficult/cumbersome to use!?!? This was so useful...
Edmund's new user interface is a huge step backwards! This used to be one of my favorite apps, because the reviews were good and the app was well designed. Now, after the update, it's much more difficult to navigate through the options and read reviews. The design team has miserably failed to make this app better and instead they have significantly overcomplicated the user experience. I'll provide an brief example. Previously the car reviews (the primary value of this app) were easily readable by scrolling through a single page. Now you have to manually select each section of a review to read it piece-by-piece. When you're done with a section you have to press a 'Back' link then tap again to view the next section. Really? Why should reading reviews require so much effort on my part? This should be super easy and not require so many actions by the user. Whoever is responsible for redesigning this app should be ashamed of themselves. I'm going to begin looking for a better alternative. This app is now worse than the MyFord Touch interface. Absolutely horrendous! I'm so focused on the frustrating user interface that I can no longer enjoy the app's features. Edmunds has shown me there is a dark side to automatic app updates. If I knew Edmunds was planning to ruin their app I would have never updated it. Give us back the previous version!
