This is a set of powerful learning aids for Egyptian Arabic: it is also useful for Egyptians who wish to improve or extend their English. It includes a dictionary, thesaurus, grammar, examples and tools to improve pronunciation and extend vocabulary.
The Egyptian Arabic/English and English/Egyptian Arabic dictionary is comprehensive and up to date. Words are displayed in arabic, transliterated and phonetic writing, with recordings of somebody saying all of the main word forms. For most verbs, a full translation of all cases and tenses is available. The search facility uses approximate matching, so you can find words even if you don't know exactly how to spell them.
The grammar document gives a complete summary of Egyptian arabic with examples and recordings.
The examples are linked to the dictionary, so you can easily find examples of a word. You touch any word in an example to see its meaning.
The vocabulary learning tool helps you to build, learn and revise your personal vocabulary list: it uses SRS (Spaced Repetition System) to provide fast and thorough learning.
The pronunciation tool is equally useful for people learning Egyptian Arabic and people learning English. You can select groups of words with similar letters or phonemes, hear somebody saying the word then record yourself and compare yourself to the correct pronunciation.
This version improves reliability of download for updates and sounds. It also has minor bug fixes for arabic localisation.

So happy I found this!
During my first trip to Egypt I had a pocket dictionary however this is far better than that! When I came back I couldn’t find it but thought maybe i could find an app. Surely enough I did! I haven’t had any problems with glitches or updates. I love all the examples on how to use words and all the conjugations. If there is a way to hear the correct pronunciation I haven’t figured it out. That feature would make this app a whole lot better. Any who, I highly recommend this to anyone coming to Egypt and has some background knowledge on Arabic.
Very helpful, but those updates...
This dictionary has been indispensable while living in Egypt. My one complaint: it has to “update” far too often. Come on, Arabic doesn’t change every day, yet every time I open the app, it has to download 4.6Mb of...something? Release OCCASIONAL updates, because it isn’t great to have to wait up to a minute (because Egypt) for the app to update whenever we need to look up a word.
Great app if you want to learn Egyptian Arabic
This app is amazing for learning Egyptian Arabic. It has pronunciation, conjugation, expressions, sentences, translation, transliteration, and much more. The only thing is it glitches every now and then, and you have to close the app and open it again. But this the FREE app on the market.
