Can you stand against the impending arrival of a malevolent Ancient One?
While Elder Sign: Omens brilliantly conveys the spirit of the Elder Sign dice game, a few noteworthy differences were adopted to optimize the mobile play experience:
-A limited number of available Ancient Ones streamlines the game play experience while offering adjustable levels of difficulty. Face Yig in normal mode, Azathoth or Tsathoggua in hard mode, or Cthulhu or Ithaqua in very hard mode (in-app purchases required to face Cthulhu and Ithaqua).
-A number of subtle changes increase the peril of defending humanity. For example, the random negative effects drawn every midnight are more challenging, and the frequency of “no effect” results has been decreased. Monsters have likewise been altered to make them more difficult.
-Finally, there are no Ally cards in Elder Sign: Omens, which further streamlines play while increasing the overall challenge.
Updated to support 64-bit iOS devices!
Optimizations to reduce overall file size.
Ratings and Reviews
In all seriousness, this is one of my favorite iOS ports of a tabletop game in existence. It gives a nice taste of the mythos, and provides just enough of a challenge to still be fun.
If I were to offer one criticism, however, I must say I miss being able to skip cutscenes. I don’t want to have to sit through that long intro every time I play.
Gorgeous and wonderful version of the game
I love this tabletop game and so I was very interested to see how this would translate over into an app since it is so involved. This app did not disappoint and is a perfect version of the game. I would even say it really clears some extra questions I had about the board game rules up too! It's clean, the graphics are great and it plays easy. I love playing four different investigators and using their abilities. I found it was much easier to almost win. Definitely worth the price!
A shame that it seems abandoned
I like the game but it has bugs and could use some love.
Twice I’ve completed all the conditions of a task, and it won’t complete. You either have to fail it to get out or feed dice to the abyss even though there is nothing left to get.
When the game is over, the summary needs to be better, and it would be nice if it tracked your progress with the monsters.
