Description

Your personal automative assistant and OBD scanner, now supporting CarPlay.

Electric Sidecar is designed specifically for Apple platforms and with privacy and data security in mind. It's your car, your data, your journey.

The app works best in combination with an OBD scanner and/or a Connected Account (Beta). Without either, you can still pull NHTSA recall notices for your vehicle.

## Privacy and security

- All data is stored on your phone and never sent to third party servers.
- Sign in with Connected Accounts (Beta) uses OAuth industry standards for authentication.

## OBD scanner

- Use a connected OBD scanner to read real-time data from your vehicle.
- Requires a separate purchase of an OBD scanner.
- Manage your OBD scanners from CarPlay.
- View live OBD parameters from CarPlay.

## Trip logger

- Explore your neighborhood and beyond with CarPlay support and a historical trip overlay.
- Automatic trip logger using on-device intelligence; just enable it and drive.
- Capture battery and/or fuel economy automatically with a connected account or OBD scanner.
- Optimized for all-day use without being a drain on your phone's battery.

## Integrations

- Widgets for iPhone and Apple Watch, including: vehicle state, tire pressure, range, fuel history, trip logs
- Live activities while charging EVs
- Lock your car with Siri (requires Connected Accounts (Beta))

## Maintenance minder

- NHTSA recalls pulled automatically for your vehicle.
- Identify upcoming maintenance tasks on your vehicle with Connected Accounts (Beta).

## Community

- Report and discuss issues occurring with your vehicle with other vehicle owners.
- Contribute to the growing set of open source OBD vehicle parameters.

## Document storage

- Organize your documents in a digital glovebox.
- On-device document scanning helps you organize your documents.

## Sign in with Connected Accounts (Beta)

- Supported accounts: Porsche, Toyota, Tesla.
- Sign in with Connected Accounts (Beta) allow you to remotely access your vehicle's data and perform remote commands such as locking your car.
- As a beta feature, availability may change over time.

All features require a subscription. Subscriptions come with a free trial period.

What’s New

Version v1.9.0

# Tesla accounts on your Apple Watch

It’s not currently possible to log in to a Tesla account from your Apple Watch. To work around this you will need to sync an account token from your phone to your watch by creating a companion token in your Tesla account page within Electric Sidecar and then synchronizing it to your watch.

# Changes in this release

## New PIDs

Porsche Taycan
- [Battery] HVBattery.Energy
- [Battery] HVBattery.SoH (now a Connectable)

## Tesla accounts

- Tesla accounts now load your profile details when you log in.
- Tesla accounts now load faster on startup.
- Tesla accounts sync to the Apple Watch has been improved.
- Clarified the purpose of the vehicle data export feature in the Tesla accounts page.

## OBD

- A new version of the OBD signalset format is now being used. This format is ~30% smaller and easier to scan.
- Connectables now correctly represent their auto-connected state.
- You can now reset your connected Connectables to the default using the menu in your “Vehicle parameters” page.
- OBD parameters now support manual flow control.
- Unit energy (e.g. kWh) is a newly supported unit.
- Entering the Terminal now pauses all background polling and reset the state of the scanner to a neutral configuration. Leaving the Terminal similarly resets the scanner and restarts background polling.
- It’s now possible to copy previously sent commands in the Terminal.

## Bugs and performance

- Fixed a bug where removing a vehicle or account could cause the Garage tab to get stuck in an odd state.
- Fixed a bug where the OBD command cache could be incorrectly used across different vehicle connections, resulting in inconsistent parameter interpretation.
- Fixed a bug where OBD commands were not being grouped appropriately based on their required preamble commands, causing incorrect interpretation of parameter responses in some cases.
- Fixed a bug where the battery cell voltage chart was not rendering correctly.
- Fixed a bug where trips without an OBD scanner were using m/s instead of km/h for the average speed calculations.
- Tuned the Journeys tab onboarding animation timing to be faster.
- Tuned the app’s formatter object to reduce unnecessary change events.
- Correctly listed OBDLink MX+ as a supported scanner.
- A cancel button has been added to the offline vehicle registration sheet.
- Accessibility
- Trip charts now scale with Dynamic Type settings.
