He is especially famous for his iconic painting titled "Washington Crossing the Delaware," which depicts General George Washington and his troops crossing the Delaware River during the American Revolutionary War. This painting has become a symbol of determination and bravery in American history. Leutze also created other historical paintings and contributed to the promotion of patriotism and idealism in American art during his time.
