Many Mac apps show what’s currently playing in your iTunes — often by rendering semi-transparent widgets over what you do. Those widgets distract you from work and never answer the question “What’s playing?” the moment you have it.
Emcee humbly shows the song in the menu bar.
The song name does not scroll, it stands still.
We are now good friends with Mojave.
Ratings and Reviews
Very good idea. However, it should be hidden when iTunes is closed. One more thing, I don't like the progress indicator popping up every time I press option key.
Needs to updated for Apple music. Has issues with full-screen apps. And it seems it's abandoned
I wrote the following review for this app over than a half a year ago:
"A good app, but there are issues with full screen apps, for example, if I want to use Emcee while browsing Safari in Full screen, it doesn't snow the track name, and I have to switch to the space with Desktop. It makes my workflow complicated, please fix this."
Well, judging by the update history, it looks like the app is abandoned at this point. A pity, as that means no more new features and probably even bug fixes. But in case that some magic would happen, please look into the issue with full screen apps, and also ditch five start ratings for like/ dislike button. Since Apple Music, star ratings are literally useless, as the suggestions don't depent on them.
Well executed, minimal menuling app
Excellent little app, love how minimal it is — nothing overdone about it.
The only thing I’d like to see in future updates are a bit more info when clicking on the menu icon, such as the album name, and maybe even album artwork.
Oh yeah, and this app is pretty solid, performance-wise. Hasn’t really shown any bugs.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
