We made it easier to connect with disaster services offered by the American Red Cross and included new features to help you prepare for earthquakes. If a disaster affects one of your monitored locations and the Red Cross opens service sites within 50 miles, we will display an in-app banner.

If a disaster has impacted your location or one of your monitored locations, and the Red Cross has opened service sites within a 50-mile radius, the Emergency app will notify you with a banner. Tap the banner to understand the services offered, location, and hours of operation. You can get directions to these sites and share them with friends and family.

With this release, we focused on improvements to ensure everyone can view open Red Cross shelters. Users can now toggle between a Map View or Shelter List View to see open Red Cross shelters. The Map View is on by default. A screen reader will recommend viewing open Red Cross shelters in the List View.
