Doesn’t work with Siri Shortcuts

The packaging and product literature highlight that you can use Siri Shortcuts to control the light. There are no included instructions to help with this, but there are instructions for setting up Alexa and Google control. Also, using Shortcuts app to set up light control, the Shortcuts app is unable to locate and communicate with the Energizer app. This means they did not enable any form of integration with IOS and/or the Shortcuts app for iPhones. A bit of false advertising. Otherwise the light itself works fine if controlled directly from the Energizer Connect app.

Clunky app but it works, barely

I almost gave up using this several months ago when we upgraded our wifi to a gen 6 mesh system. My older (2 years old if I recall) smart plugs, and this app, apparently only work with a 2.4GHz network. (That’s wifi gen 1, I believe, if you’re curious, though gen 4 devices are usually backwards compatible.) Anyway, just a few weeks ago I had an opportunity to get an extender that happens to create a 2.4GHz network, so these devices started working again. Great!

Still, the app struggled to get the devices configured. There’s 3 different ways to attempt to configure devices, and I had to try all 3 before the last method worked. I also struggled with the app to figure out what it wanted me to do. For some reason the interface has buttons that look like they’re grayed out that I didn’t even realize were buttons at first, but I had to tap them to continue. Anyway, I finally figured it out, though, and now I can use my plugs again.

They also can be linked up with my Google Home, which is nice, so I can use the plugs in automations over in that system as well.

Issues! I have two!

The app says it is updated with the latest firmware but I am still experiencing the half-screen issue as described by many on here. I only get to see half of the screen when viewing in horizontal mode, and nothing in vertical mode.

Strangely enough, when screenshots are taken using the app’s “Take Photo” option, the resulting photo is the full screen version!

Also, whatever happened to the option to save the video captures into my mini SD card (inserted into the card slot on the side of the camera) for later viewing? It looks like this feature was removed because I remember that I would clear the memory of my SD card once it is full. Please give back this feature, I do not need to pay for cloud storage when I can utilize a card slot that was functioning properly before. Let it be my choice as a customer if I would like to convert to cloud storage.
