Description

This app allows allows you to enter your horse's feeding information, then provides an analysis of the nutrients in the feed ration.

You can add custom feeds, or use feeds provided by a shared database. There is also a feature to compare two feeds.

The analysis will show the minimum nutrients your horse requires using information that you enter about their weight and work level.

Good idea but not enough data

This is a great idea and I really like having it available, but there needs to be MUCH more data available for feeds. Yes, you can enter your own but it doesn’t get checked over very quickly and there aren’t enough options for labels/units to make it accurate.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your feedback. In order to keep the app reasonably priced I haven’t spent a long time adding all possible feeds. We have users in many different countries and it isn’t feasible. I would love to get more feedback from you regarding which units/labels you would like me to add. Please email me at info@horsebytes.ca, if you want to, for more discussion.

Excellent app for a knowledgeable horseman

This is a great app of you know how to read read tags and have a basic concept of ration balancing. I am recommending it to all of my clients (I am a breeder/trainer with a PhD in animal nutrition). If gives you the info you need without a lot of clutter and unnecessary extras. All you need is your feed tags for mixed products and an idea of what forage you feed (you can look up all basic feedstuffs via the NRC tables and get an average value).

I really don’t understand the reviews that say “not enough data.” Why would you want preprogrammed feed information when it changes over time, even in an established product, and it is really easy to get a feed tag from your current feed and look up the averages based on the type of forage you are using from the NRC database if it isn’t provided for you from your dealer. It’s a great app, especially in comparison to the other options out there that charge a ridiculous amount simply because they have a database of outdated feed tags and supplements (why would you trust those when it can change at any time, so you need to check your product anyway)?

Very Helpful Nutritional Insight

The app is well formatted and intuitive to use. Included data for the forage and supplements I’m using. Has method to add feeds and nutritional values. Clicking on a nutrient row gives very insightful information as to which feeds and supplements are contributing and in what proportion. Thus, providing a basis for
fine tuning a horse’s feed plan. Well worth the app price.
