Needs An Update

I think that EEi is a wonderful app to practice playing your instrument and learning new songs. Right now. I think it needs an update to fix a few bugs such as kicking me out of the app on a certain song and when you restart the song. If your on any accompaniment and you try to restart the song. The time will start over. But the accompinament will keep going no matter where you are on the app.

Badly in need of an update

As a public high school strings teacher, I really want to like and use this app, but as it stands now I just can't and don't. The last update to it was almost two years ago, back when iOS 8.3 was out. As of this writing, we're at iOS 10.2, and as the others have mentioned, there are stability issues. All my students have school-issued iPads, and this app crashes at startup on an unacceptably large percentage of their devices. When trying to register, the app also more likely than not didn't recognize their book codes, and they all had to resort to entering their ISBN numbers instead (which added to the hassle of trying to get everyone set up). The recent updates to the Essential Elements Interactive website (like the All-Music option for recording music not found in the books, and the other updates to the assignments tab) haven't been rolled over into this app yet, which is truly a shame because they could really help me out with playing quizzes and other assessments (not all my students have access to a private internet-connected computer at home with a mic.)

Thank you for the well thought out review. You were correct on so many points. We have just released an update that addresses these concerns. Give it a try and if it works for you, would you consider revising your review and rating? Thanks!

Buggy and crashes

I have been enjoying the Essential Elements books as I learn cello as an adult beginner. I was excited to try the app, but have constant issues. The interface feels dated and is not easy to navigate. At times, trying to select musical accompaniment results in just a metronome or nothing at all. The app crashes frequently. After activating Book 2, I am unable to go back to Book 1 to play exercises. I've tried this on both iPad and iPhone. At least with iPad, the sheet music is here in case I forget my book, but both devices are not enjoyable to use. I don't even want to practice because of this which is a shame because having the musical accompaniment to practice intonation with is something I was really looking forward to. Please work to make this app more stable and reliable.

Thank you for the review. We have made some updates to the back end of the app and it should be much more stable now.

Regarding switching from books, if you go to the songlist, you can navigate between books.

Regarding accompaniments, you are able to change accompaniments. Many exercises have multiple options for accompaniments. Nearly all exercises in Book 1 and 2 have at least an accompaniment with the melody performed by individuals or a group of musicians.

Give it another try and if you are still having issues, please send in a help ticket though the help section of the app. We are more than happy to trouble shoot and help you out.

Thanks again for the review.
