Breaking the Barrier, the company that created the award-winning Spanish language series, is now changing the way students learn vocabulary.

John Conner and his team have identified the most useful words in the Spanish language to deliver a concise yet powerful vocabulary list to learners of all ages.

Approximately 200 words are available free of charge in our “Steps" section, with three additional levels (Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced) available as in-app purchases. Each new level contains 600 words. All together, 2000 unique words await you!

Our state-of-the-art voice recognition software allows learners to interact with their iPhone or iPad – even offline – in way that has never been seen or heard before.

Great pacing and fun quizzes move learners efficiently from one level to the next in an exciting and encouraging fashion.

Essential Spanish Vocabulary Flashcards presents the same vocabulary lists as our celebrated iBooks textbooks and print books, offering students who want to expand their studies a seamless transition to all of our courses.

Would be amazing if it worked

Very buggy in its current state. At times does not hear or react any speech and at totters scrolls through 10 flash cards at a time and marks correct with zero words spoken. Hopefully the bugs will be fixed because this is a great and intuitive way to learn correct pronunciation.

Fantastic practice and easy to use! Love the traveler's guide.

This rises above other language apps with its voice recognition technology and user friendly features and design. Great to have in class or on a trip!

Good but not yet great

This is an intuitive and well organized app with precisely the exercises I need for my basic Spanish class. Unfortunately it's still buggy and not quite ready for prime time. The voice recognition lacks direct visual feed back for which part of a word failed to be recognized so it's often necessary to repeat the word severAl times slightly differently to get the spoken answer accepted. I also suspect the noise filtering is poor as it often seems to have the level meter pinned even when I'm not speaking. Second, it often takes time and repeated taps to get it to recognize that a button on screen has been touched. Third it has crashed and quit on my iPhone 5s twice during normal use in the first hour of playing with it.

Fix the bugs and this is a four star app . Add a random review mode and I'll score 5 stars.
