EtreCheck produces a comprehensive diagnostic report on the current state of your computer. This report includes details about hardware, installed software, and performance. EtreCheck can find over 70 specific major and minor problems with your computer. EtreCheck can detect issues such as:
- Lack of backup;
- Adware infection;
- Failing hard drive;
- Out of memory situations; and
- Low disk space situations.
EtreCheck will also tell you if you could get improved performance from a new hard drive or RAM upgrade. If EtreCheck finds no problems, it will tell you that too. EtreCheck will help you get your computer healthy again or give it a clean bill of health.
- A list of major and minor issues;
- Access to security information and adware detection and removal;
- A text-based report that can be posted on your favourite Internet technical support forum to help people identify what is wrong with your computer; and
- Additional insights drawn from submissions of EtreCheck reports to our diagnostic engine in the Power User package (requires macOS 10.13 "High Sierra" or later).
EtreCheck has been used for years by thousands of people. The EtreCheck report has become an indispensable tool used by both professional consultants and regular people.
EtreCheck's unique adware detection algorithm allows it to work without superuser permissions or even disk access. EtreCheck will never randomly delete files it thinks are adware. Instead, tells you what it finds and lets you make the decision.
EtreCheck also provides a Power User in-app purchase that goes beyond the text-based report. It displays a rich, interactive interface that provides links to additional information, charts and graphs, and information to help you learn more about the details of your computer.
If you don't want to post your EtreCheck report publicly, the Power User package can also generate solutions to your computer problems using our AI-driven diagnostic engine. A Solution will include solutions for each major and minor issue, and, in most cases, one or more step-by-step instructions to help you fix your computer problems yourself.
The Power User package also includes 12 additional Insight pages about expected performance, adware and security software, and hard drive performance.
EtreCheck is designed to put you back in control of your computer.
• Universal build for new processor;
• Add new 2020 computers;
• Improve reporting of new System Extensions;
• Update Insights with recent data;
• Fix a bug with local snapshots;
• Reuse recently used problem type and description; and
• Other bug fixes and improvements.

Excellet Product and Support
I was having a frequent crashing problem with my late 2012 iMac and could never figure out what the problem was. I downloaded EtreCheck for free and was so impressed with the report that I upgraded to the Power User version for its diagnostic / solution recommendations. Best, is that support over the weekend was almost instantaneous. I've received very courteous replies and help regarding solution to my problems. The Power User version literally gives you detail on what was causing the comptuer to crash. I've removed all the outdated programs that were causing the crashes. Computer is now running perfectly and I couldn't be happier.
Great to have in your toolbox
Okay, third-party software can often get messy on a mac. Isn't exactly fair or fun to deal with, but them's the stakes.
If you prefer to have the mac do what you want it to and do your own thinking, EtreCheck is a good tool to have in your toolbox.
No, it doesn't do your work for you. Instead, it forces you to analyze and learn how your mac processes information and alerts you to potential trouble. This includes adware and other nuisances, but also just how your baby runs and, if you are paying attention, gives you ideas on how to remedy problems. Thanks, EtreCheck.
Persistent DNS redirection virus
This virus latched onto a program on my MacBook Pro. It prevented my web browser from finding any web site, and prevented my corporate email from connecting to it's server. No other anti-virus detected the problem, or could resolve it. EntreCheck found it on my SyncedTool auto backup app, and I was able to remove the tool and the virus along with it. It also detected a number of other minor problems slowing my system down that I was able to easily fix. My computer is now running smoothly, and virus-free.
