Ratings and Reviews
A good value but mediocre AI and rules
For the price, this is a good game for passing some time without having to think too deeply about the types of units on the board, interactions between board elements or other strategic matters. It's pretty close to risk, with units having different ranges of damage that they can roll against each other (Risk-style).
The downside are two things: (1) The rules are nearly unreadable in their current form and won't help you much to understand when it's better to upgrade a territory, get a feel for the general mechanics or anything else in the game. (2) The AI in the game is AWFUL and in cooperative games where you have allies, you have to leave behind a single unit in every territory behind the lines because your allies WILL take over your lands if you don't leave at least one unit as sentry behind you. This makes co-op games painful as you have to invest a ton to either beat your ally (getting their income) OR leave a ton of material sitting useless where it can't help towards the map objectives.
Again, for the price this is a GOOD value and you'll likely spend a good chunk of time understanding out how the game works until you hit a limit where it's just not fun. Compared to the price of a movie, a cold beverage or other entertainment it's a deal. I'd buy it again, just expecting less. :)
Well worth $2.99, one of the most addictive games I've ever played. Only problem is that when you play Bulgaria, China will attack from the south in Turkey and they will cheat. They attack while under the fortress card which you're not supposed to be able to do and China's artillery moves into your position after a battle when their not supposed to. Because of this it's virtually impossible to win the game with Bulgaria while on the maximum difficulty level. One other thing is that the English and description could be better for first time users. Other than that, the game is phenomenal!
The developers made a fun idea hard to enjoy
This game had a lot of potential, but despite much playing time, had great difficulty enjoying. The game shifts around so much, that it becomes nauseating. Really. The game makes you watch every player’s decision - no skip, though the game pauses when you switch to another tab to pass the time momentarily.
The AI often make illogical decicions, which proved frustrating. For example, in one game scenario I played, Russia controlled the majority of the map - Spain (me), Italy, Britain, Turkey and Norway, being the sole survivors. Rather than concentrating their efforts against the impending Russian assault, all of them concentrated their full efforts on ME! While being simaltaneously destroyed by Russia.
You’re probably better off just playing the board game Risk with a friend. Much easier and enjoyable.
