Getting better…
I had high hopes for this after wearing Oura ring for 18 months and having it no longer hold a full day’s charge. I loved that there was no subscription with Evie and was eager to see if it would provide the same readings that I had with Oura. The first week I had Evie, I noticed the data was really off. Reporting way more steps than I actually took and much longer sleep (thinking I was asleep while working at my desk). It definitely got better after a month of wear but still over-reporting. I tried to contact support with no luck on getting a response. I’ll continue using the ring in hopes of their algorithms getting better and maybe one day being integrated with Apple Health. I most got the ring for sleep and menstrual tracking. I’ll give it another 2-3 months before evaluating whether the menstrual tracking actually works… a full month of data is just not enough to predict cycles. So far I think the improvements being made in the few weeks I’ve worn it show promise. Hoping things get a lot better.
Disappointing
I was excited for this ring geared towards women with a more appealing visual app. I have been an Oura ring wearer for 5 years. I was drawn to the ring design also (flex of ring is so helpful when hands swell or when someone shakes my hand a little firmly). However, Oura added app readings in a couple updates just before Evie shipped. These updates blow Evie out of the water as far as what information it provides. I too have struggled with battery life of the Oura ring (especially at the price point for it to only last about a year) but it well out performs Evie. The readings don’t seem as accurate as Oura. The information is super basic. It’s not even as much info as Oura provided when the ring first came out. Evie takes a very long time to upload and process data from ring into app. I have had issues with my Evie account. Somehow Evie connected to an email account that I don’t use. When I created my account I used a specific email but all communication came to a different one. Now for some reason my ring has disconnected from the app requiring log in and my actual login Information isn’t recognized. I’ve had to delete my app and tried to login again but it wants to use my email to set up a new account. I’ve lost months worth of data now. I’m highly disappointed in the ring and app. Oura has its drawbacks but it is leaps and bounds the better choice.
Positives: ring flexes, color choice at lower price, portable charger.
Wanted to love it
I held out for this ring because I loved what it promised. We waited and waited for the ring as they kept pushing the shipping date out farther and farther before not responding. I begged my partner not to cancel the order because this is the ring I wanted. Now that I have it I wish we had canceled the order. It tells me that I sleep from midnight to 5:55am every day. Last night I slept from 10:45-10am and the. Night before was 8:30-4:30. So the tracking isn’t just off, it’s making up whatever it wants entirely. Oh, and you can’t edit the logs. There is no way to see prior days data with certain metrics. Like HRV. If you want to see any sort of health trends you have to make yourself a spreadsheet because tomorrow morning when you sync the new day all the previous data is gone. How is that helpful? Also, I’ve heard a lot of people saying that this rig gives you the ability to compare health data with your cycle. It would be nice to be able to overlay the data so see how it’s compared to my cycle. Like to see how my HRV or body temp fluctuates throughout my cycle. The ring is beautiful, I love the design, the fit, the color. But I bought this as a functional device, not pretty jewelry, and because of that it’s practically useless. I’m honestly heartbroken but will be returning it unless an app update (overhaul) comes out ASAP.
