Read on, you'll see it is well worth it.
What does this application do?
Exacta Max is an exacta wager optimizer. If you tell Exacta Max what horses you like, and how much you want to spend on each race, Exacta Max will tell you how to place your wagers for the best return.
Example: suppose you like the #4, #9 and #6 in a race. Ordinarily, you might box these three horses in an exacta box. With a box, you put equal amounts of money on each combination. But if you knew that the #4 with the #9 pays $20 and the #4 with the #6 pays $150, you would probably want to put more money on the 4-6 combination. Because the chances of it hitting are only slightly lower than the 4-9 combination, but the payout is significantly higher. Exacta Max will advise you to load up on the highest value exactas and put less money on the lower value exactas. This is the sort of information you can get from Exacta Max.
Exacta Max is integrated with REAL-TIME tote board odds and payouts. It is accurate up to the minute.
Exacta Max is integrated with E-Ponies.com computer picks, but you can also input your own selections.
This is very powerful information. If you are playing exactas without this tool, you are playing at a disadvantage.
Caution! This is a very powerful tool for horse racing fans, but make sure you know how to use it! We recommend you view the instructional videos before first time use. Links to YouTube videos are at the bottom of this description.
Try it for a month, for just $1.99. If you don't like it, just let the subscription lapse after the first month.

Not bad to have as an extra look
Ios8 fixed! Thanks!
This comes in handy when you may want to play a long shot. Sure it doesn't hit much but that's with anything. Definitely worth a look after I make my picks from the program to compare.
This is a nice app. While I really have only won a few exactas over the last few days I've tried this app, it is nice to see picks and the helpful bets to make the most of your bets. It is extremely slow. I don't understand why it has to load all tracks when I'm just looking at one (at least that's what the notification messages say). Also, it needs the arrow to Choose a new track on the best box view screen. I've kept track of many races over the past few days on what this says to do (both eponies and tote board) for exacta bets and best trifecta boxes. I've even kept track of the top 5 picks and I wouldn't have hit much at all. I still like the app but they need to work on the speed of it. Even going back and forth from the optimizer to the best box view shouldn't need to refresh until a refresh is due. Very aggravating.
I bought this app for use during the Saratoga meet. I have used it all week and absolutely love it. I had consistent winnings all week. Over the 60 or so races This week it had about 25 winners (using both eponies and tote info) which paid out much more than the losses. Further, Saratoga was dominated by the 6-5, 7-5, 2-1 etc.. favorites all week which makes it difficult to find value, yet this app did it splendidly. Used with proper bet sizing and risk management, this is an excellent tool. Well worth the money. (actually worth more, but shhh)
The only suggestion I have would be an option to "keep selected track" so you don't have to continually re-select it from the drop down box. Doing so actually crashed the app many times, but I think my phone may be more to blame for that than the app, so don't let that dissuade you. This is by far the best horse racing app in the store!
Works, just differently than I expected. :-)
Was going to use it to check KY derby picks. Biggest race there is, and it says they cover Churchill Downs. But when I open the app, and buy the subscription, I see "no pools available". Anywhere. :-(
Update! Ok, so I rushed my review out of frustration. Apparently it is only for active pools at that very moment. No preplanning based on early lines. But it does appear to work. I haven't tried it out yet, but wanted to correct my earlier review.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
