EZSwitch is a status bar application which allows you to shutdown, restart or put your Mac(OSX Snow Leopard or above) to sleep with a user configurable delay time. It also allows you to cancel or change the operation within the user configurable delay time. For example, if the delay time is configured as 10 seconds and the user initiates a sleep, within the ten seconds the user can change his mind and cancel the sleep or change the operation to a shutdown or a restart. The delay also provides the user the opportunity to exit their computer desk without accidentally waking up the computer through the keyboard or mouse.
- Application has been sandboxed
- Added ability to fast switch to login window. Feature can be activated through hotkey.
- Delay time field is editable through keyboard
- Default hot key assignments changed
-Sleep command+option+forward delete
-Lock/Login Window command+option+home
- Start at login feature has been removed
Ratings and Reviews
I downloaded this app for a single purpose: to be able to restart my Mac Mini via a keystroke combination from a remote desktop connection, even if I couldn't see the screen. This app performs that task beautifully. The delay feature is particularly useful for remote desktop, as it allows you a chance to begin your restart or sleep sequence and then shut down your remote connection gracefully. Of its other functions, Sleep and Power Down work fine.
Problems: Log In doesn't appear to do anything on Mountain Lion. Its user interface is annoying, I grant you. The default key combinations are not what I'd expect, nor is there any internal help available. It would be helpful if the menu contained text as well as icons, as I don't have the silly universal symbols memorized.
But it does what I need, and I can't complain about the price! :-)
Good, but with bugs in graphical user interface! :-(
To be honest with you, I didn't test the app to see if it does what it says that it will do or not because I got so disappointed with the GUI issues that I decided to just uninstall it. First: When you click on the app's icon the menu shows up (that is ok), but if you choose the Preferences button, the menu never disappears and it sits over the Preferences window. You have to actually move the preferences window to a side in order to be able to use it. That menu never goes away!!! Second: When you do use any of the features (shutdown, sleep, etc.) with a delayed action and then CANCEL it, the big black window takes over your screen. You can see a text stating that the action was cancelled, but the window never disappears. I guess that it goes out after a few seconds or when you click again on the app's button - who knows!; I have not been able to identify how it goes away… Third: the delayed time of the desired action is in SECONDS (the developers should at least indicate with a label if the time of the text box is in seconds, minutes, etc.). Fourth: You can't type your own value on the delay seconds box!!! EPIC FAILURE!!!!! Good app (apparently), but needs some GUI tweaks.
Doesn't even work!
I got this app for a sortcut to put my Mac to sleep. When I first tryed it my Mac never fell asleep. I kept trying it over and over but it never worked.
