Facebook used to be amazing. Now it’s mostly ads. They tried to create an algorithm where you have visibility of the same group of people over and over, it’s VERY boring. Their reels platform was actually getting pretty cool because they paid content creators to come over, but then when things started going well, they stopped paying them. They refused to ever monetize my account because I posted a video with a watermark, 15 videos back. Their appeal process is horrible and they have literally zero customer service. They “shadow ban” you if you post a link or share a news story so no one actually has visibility unless they search for it on my page. They grossly limit freedom of speech, esp for LGBTQ and other minority groups. They layered in so many things it got confusing, messenger is it’s own app, but reels is not, making reels difficult to share. Their system in wonky and hard to maneuver through, you get used to it, but the whole time your think “why?”. It has some value for older people to stay in touch, that’s the only good thing I can say. Like an abandoned amusement park, it used to be fun, but now it’s rusty and outdated.

I like Facebook as a platform for people to express themselves. The things I’m not a fan of especially are the lack of customer service and realistic resolutions for issues people face on this platform. There are a lot of bots that comment false reviews on products that deceive people in wasting their money. There are a lot of fake counts that put massive amounts of spam on different pages that cause viruses on people phones/computers and hack into your information. Peoples accounts are hacked and are unable to be retrieved, losing massive amounts of memories, pictures, friends and personal information that’s in the hands of who knows and where. The customer service is non existent. You don’t receive any resolution for any issues from actual people, it always results in checking help forums or talking to AI and not getting anything solved in an effective way. I see plenty of people who are flagged or in “Facebook jail” for minuscule reasons but bots and spam are able to continuously post without consequences. I think the way Facebook is run and handled is utterly careless and dismissive. I lost my old account to a hacker, where I lost thousands of pictures I can never get back and profiles of people who are no longer alive as well as messages. I’m highly disappointed with the lack of help I received and how I was treated as an inconvenience with no priority to help me retrieve everything I needed.

My feed has been completely dominated by ads and pages I do not follow, I got almost 2 thousand people added but barely see posts from them on my feed, just as I am aware my posts barely show to other people as well, likely a shadow ban as no post have the same reach as it used to have years ago. It doesn't even matter if I try to manually search for someone and interact, the feed is 90% pages I do not follow and often stuff that I don't even care about.

Once in a while the app glitches, notifications are not reliable and sometimes don't show you comments people have made. Other times it takes hours to notify you of something.

I've seen too many content that go against the community standards being accepted, which I reported and Facebook seemed to be okay with it because they say nothing was wrong about them. The review team is useless and biased, I already got banned from Facebook for telling jokes or talking about video games and the review team didn't care at all about any context, if there's one word they don't like it's bye bye. Not to mention when I criticized a movie few years ago and got banned without any explanation or even a chance for appeal to the decision. But when a friend of mine who is autistic got offended and received threats from a random dude, she was the one getting a restriction on her account and not the aggressor.
