Find Travel Buddy: Fairytrail 17+

LOVE IT

Loving the app so far. As a fellow digital nomad, it's been a challenge to find those who vibe with my lifestyle and make new friends in new places. But I’ve been able to connect with local people that are visiting from other places too. It's like having a network of friends wherever I go. I was also able to connect with a old friend of mine in a new city, thanks to this app. The developers team's feedback is also very fast and I can see they're making frequent improvements. I'm planning my next trip to Singapore and I will use this app again to find people to connect with!

Was great, but now it is overpriced

This app was great, though rough around the edges. But with the recent update, it seems like they smoothed the edges, but now necessary functionality is behind an expensive price wall. You now have to pay to see who wants to connect with you. And you have to pay to be able to undo skips (very necessary with the small user base). Before, when these functions were free, I managed to go through the apps full base of users with decently broad filters in a short span, so I know the user base is small, so the price wall for these features aren’t justifiable in my opinion. And with these changes, I expect the user base to shrink further. Especially with there being other apps out there that offer the same utility, but without the price wall.
This was my favorite nomad dating app and I hope it will be again one day, but until changes are made, I recommend using another app.

(Edit: I gave this more consideration and have changed my mind a bit. I appreciate the Fairytrail team for making this app for us, and I think there needs to be a good way for them to get paid for their efforts. And since this app is really good, other than the high pricing for key (but not 100% needed) functionality, I’ve increased my rating for it. But I hope they make this more affordable in the future and the new pricing doesn’t shrink the pool of users, because it still seems too small of a user population to justify the price.)

Strange App & charges $$$ for everything!!

Deeply disappointed in this app. The premise of it sounded unique at first until you download and subscribe. Then it’s a whole other monster. They ask you for fee after fee. They also state it’s a one time low fee but it adds up. It feels really scummy to ask a $2 fee just to pick San Francisco as a place to meet your date considering it’s just part of the game (match the same places), the app isn’t giving you anything for $2. Other places are free. It sort of manipulates people’s answer because no one is going to pay $$ after fee just to play the game to be able to talk to your match. It’s tedious and takes too much time. Not even worth the $2.99 introductory fee it initially forces you to make before you can even swipe. Tinder is better even though tinder you are not meeting as many travelers at least the app doesn’t charge you non stop for silly things that take so long. I’m shocked this APP doesn’t have 1 star because it should. The creators aren’t travelers they are money hungry who are capitalizing off of travelers will to meet their own kind. It’s really scummy. Try couchsurfing, it’s free and you meet tons of verified travelers who have reviews etc.
