If you live and breathe appointments and meetings, Fantastical was built for you. It offers a broad range of ways to view your calendars and reminders, and it makes adding an event as easy as talking to a digital assistant. And with support for widgets and Apple Watch, the app ensures you’ll never forget an important event again.
Hey listen Fantastical, I’ve had your $40 subscription for a couple of years now. I’ve stuck with you even when you would just crash on my macbook every day to the point where I had to uninstall the desktop application entirely. I stuck with you because your mobile app on my phone works great, and I live by my phone calendar. I love being able to type in when and where an event will be and have it autofill the event. But I have to let you go—not only because I’m now in way more student debt and every penny counts, but also because I just spent 30 minutes trying to sign into both the updated desktop application and the iPad app using my Apple ID and had no success. I’m starting a program where I need my calendar on my tablet and my desktop at all times. And yeah I probably could wait to call tech support tomorrow to get assistance, but considering the update to the desktop app took a while for me, I think I’ll pass on waiting for this fix. I’ll probably come back once I can just rely on the mobile app again. Until then, goodbye Flexbits, goodbye Fantastical.PS Originally I had this at 3 stars. I’ve bumped it up to 4 because I truly used this app every day on my phone for years. And it probably works just fine on iPads and macbooks too. But I guess I’ll never know
Thank you for your review, and sorry you had some issues. This should be working now, but if not please contact support and we'll get you up and running asap: flexibits.com/contact
I’ve been using fantastical premium for 2+ years now, which in itself says a lot. It seems like, prior to that, I had downloaded any and every calendar and agenda app on the market. All of them had left me wanting…until Fantastical! It has as much or as little functionality and personalization as you want. Although, if you are a minimal user you’re probably better off with the default calendar app. I, on the other hand, juggle 4-5 different calendars. Personal, work, family and another organization that I’m part of are just a few. This lets me work within all of them and allows for easy distinction between them with colors to coordinate. You can also create multiple views of calendars, such as a “Master” Calendar with the core info. You can also create different view calendar groupings for whatever you may need them for. For example, you may want to see your kid’s school calendar activities and so you can have it set as a view with each child’s individual calendar’s grouped into one view. This eliminates having to switch back & forth. The only thing that could improve this calendar app is adding task and/or separate reminder integration. Currently, it does function with whatever separate system or app you may be using for task/reminder items but would be The Holy Grail of calendar apps if it had that built in. It’s also very user friendly & quite easy to get the hang of quickly -so if you’re worried about trying to figure it out, don’t be.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review 🙂 We'd also like to let you know that if you have any suggestions or things you'd like to see added to Fantastical you can send us a message https://flexibits.com/contact
my past review is below. I am so happy that it feels like my wish came true with the couple small issues i had because now they have been taken care of! I can have my app closed and still the icon shows the date, and there are even more updated features that i love, so way to go fantastical because i have finally deleted my ical [sorry, not sorry apple] and I am such a happy camper! just renewed my subscription for another year too, keep up the superb work and actually listening and responding to the wants of your users! my rating is definitely a 5 star one now!I absolutely love this app! It has replaced my reminders and calendar apps (almost!) completely. The one thing I keep my apple calendar around for, is to see the date on the icon, you know, as the icon image. It would be so fantastical if the developers could implement that as an option for the icon? I noticed that when I changed the icon in the phone app, it removed the date showing on my desktop app and even though I removed my ‘flat’ icon choice, the date hasn’t returned on my desktop icon’s dock. Otherwise though, this app has everything you need, keeps things intuitive and my favorite - the natural language input. It might be nice to be able to type ‘at my current location’ and have it enter your current location. If either of these things were updated I would, without hesitation, change my review to 5 stars for sure. Thanks for making an app that actually keeps me on time and let’s me add a bunch of alerts for one appointment! 👌🏻🎯👏🏻

I honestly don’t get people on the app store. I bought Fantastical 2 on my Mac and iOS and it was a great calendar application. At the time it didn’t do several things I needed and I preferred the UI of Calendars 5 but I never felt I had wasted any money. So spring forward to a couple of days ago and I re-installed Fantastical, now at version 3, on my devices expecting the worst from the 2.8 rating. Lots and lots of people upset by the change to the subscription model. So I expect the worst and see that I still have all of the features that I had to begin with including some UI updates to the things that made me leave in the first place.Listen folks, developers need to be able to make a living to support themselves and to keep bringing features to the apps you use on a daily basis. The subscription model is the only way this is possible and they’re not asking for a lot. You probably spend more on coffee every month than you would on a yearly subscription to Fantastical. Stop screwing the devs with these low ratings. If you have a problem reach out to them for help before leaving a 1-star rating. If the app doesn’t do something it never promised to do in the first place don’t leave a 1-star rating. Rate it based on what’s there, not what was never promised in the first place. Thanks Flexibits for the great application and keep up the good work! And to Michael Simmons from Flexibits....the Amiga was ALWAYS a better computer than the Mac. Just sayin’.
Thank you for the positive feedback here! Firstly, I have to address some of the ridiculous, laughable reviews. I was smh 🤦🏻♀️. Some of these reviews lead me to believe that some users don’t pay attention to directions or read updates or use tutorials or contact support via the obvious channels. These developers listen and care and want to maintain a solid app. There are regular updates. Ignore any reviews about customer support or “I can’t get it to work”. Some reviewers are clueless and/or have no common sense. Why blame the app for your ignorance? Ugh, I hate that! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Now for some of the reasons this app deserves 5 stars. To start with, this is a very intuitive app. It’s as close to reading your mind as a calendar can get. lol You can set an event or reminder using natural language as you would in conversation. It knows what to pick out, and seeing the letters and numbers fall into place in cascade fashion and when correcting as it builds the event is really cool. lol That is a really cool feature, imo, and I’m willing to bet that a lot of users would agree with that. It’s an intelligent app. The UI is very nice looking. I could say more, but I need to cut this off at some point. Suffice it to say that I am very pleased w my purchase. Worth every penny. In fact, I wish I had it on my iPad as well, but that’s a separate purchase for $9.99. Very tempting... the native iOS calendar is so lame in comparison. Lol But I’ll just stick to using my iPhone for all of my calendar needs.I know...first world problems. 😁
Long time Fantastical user since version 1 and I’ve owned every platform version of 2. When Fantastical 3 launched the $40 a year per person cost took my breath away (my family of 4 use it to plan our family and work schedules) and the buggy initial release and constant up-sells bothered me enough I left Fantastical and went with a competitor. Things have changed. 6 months later there is a family plan for $64 a year that allows 5 users. Pricey for sure but better than paying per user. The bugs have all been ironed out and they have consistently added new features in response to community asks and the COVID epidemic including first class integration with all the major online video conferencing platforms. They got rid of the hard up-sell tactics in the solid free version of the app. The most important thing for me? It’s the very best calendar app on Apple devices of any kind, period. There are others that are nice too and much cheaper but this app is simply the best calendar app in every single way from features to UI and more. I had a self induced problem when I installed the app and Flexibits gave me immediate personal assistance and got me squared away. Outstanding. I decided I will give it a go for a year for my family and so far everyone is so happy to have Fantastical back on their devices and it just is a pleasure to use. If Flexibits continues to support this app with new features and updates to remain consistent with the iOS 14 and Big Sur look and feel I think at the end I’ll be happy with investing in a world class developer and app. I’m happy to be back and so far I think it’s worth it to have the best.
Thank you for taking the time to reconsider the app and thank you even more for all of the praise here. We are happy to have found a way to serve your family with the new Family Plan option and are delighted to hear that you are making good use of the new features in the app as well :) If you or any of your family members ever need support with the app or have questions, please feel free to reach out to us at https://flexibits.com/contact
This app tries to be helpful with several shortcut features, but they often take effect without notice and actively create scheduling issues as a result. 1) When creating an event, if you make the mistake of putting numbers anywhere in the title, the date and/or time of the event will be changed automatically. This is a very frustrating an unnecessary feature that often creates major problems. If I select October 1 and create a new event, I do not want or need that date to be changed automatically. This feature actively sabotages a basic scheduling task. 2) Time zone shift. This is an embarrassing disaster. If you travel outside your timezone, all of your event times will shift automatically and create massive confusion. 3) Start/end time shifts. If an all-day event is multiple days long and you change the start day, the entire event will be shifted automatically instead of just the start day that you are changing. This, again, creates confusion and incorrect scheduling if you do not happen to double check every setting after making the specific adjustment. 4) Same problem with start and end times. Changing the start time of any event will automatically change the end time. It is exhausting trying to quickly schedule events when making a single adjustment results in silent, automatic changes elsewhere. I have to stop using this app because it has burned me too many times in too many various ways.
We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the parser in Fantastical. If you would like to reach out to our support team at flexibits.com/contact we would be happy to work with you on this.
I’ve been a user of this app since 2011 or 2012 and i looooved this app. Then few years ago this app became hard to use. It keeps on crashing! I tried the subscription version but it still kept on crashing. I tried looking for a to do app that has similar functionality with this one but sadly nothing comes close. I made a review here(i gave a negative review) and the company contacted me and asked me if I wanted to participate in a beta version group or something and I agreed because I really loved this app and I also want to help improve it. I did it for few years (giving feedbacks) and it still keeps on crashing! So i finally broke up with this app and just forget about this. Fast forward to a month or two ago when I upgraded my phone from iPhone 7 plus to iPhone 14 pro max and I tried using this app again and it was working properly!! The app doesn’t crash anymore! you can just tap the recurring to do list(the feature the i love the most) and it works! I’m guessing that the problem is my phone!I’m giving you Fantastical 4 stars instead of 5 because you didn’t tell me that maybe it’s already time for me to upgrade my phone LOL! and also so that you’ll keep improving the app and not to be complacent because as of right now, THIS APP IS THE BEST TO DO/CALENDAR APP!
Thank you for your review and the kind words. We are honored to have you back as a Fantastical user. 😁
There is a horrible upgrade. Features they claim were remaining active from Fantastical 2 are not active completely. Had to completely disable calendars from iOS in favor of logging in using a iCloud app-specific-password account, and creating a “free” flexibits account. The free flexibits account is a joke!! All it does is ask me to upgrade to a premium subscription, with no other account settings to mess with. I don’t even have the option to change my account password. Update my email address, etc..., let alone let me see what is actually syncing or what it is doing. This is completely unacceptable.I have also had to completely remove the Apple Watch app for fantastical as it no longer shows any data about my appointments or events. Also it first stated I had to log into my free account to sync anything at all.... what the hell?? I thought all fantastical 2 features were still accessible?? Also the large complication no longer shows events or appointments just the day and date, I have the default watch day and date complication for that!! Seriously, horrible. And you want me to pay for premium features?!?!? How can I trust those will work if your so called free features no longer are useable??!?
Hi, please update to version 3.0.2 and the watch issues should be resolved. You will have access to all features from Fantastical 2, so drop us an email if you're having trouble and we'll help you out.
I have been a loyal user of Fantastical since 2012 or so on both iOS and macOS. I recently got an Apple Watch and quickly added the Fantastcal 3 app to my watch. It’s set up to mirror my iPhone. I usually have no more than 3 or 4 daily reminders (tasks) and an occasional event set up. I consider myself fairly computer savvy and can usually figure out the various settings and functionalities of an app. After fiddling with the Fantastical settings for the watch on my iPhone for awhile, I found that the app on the watch functions inconsistently including what appears on the face of the watch after opening or checking off a task on the iPhone or directly on the watch. Also, sometimes the app on the watch will not sync up with the iPhone. I have all my iOS devices signed in on a Fantastical 3 account and my iCloud added to accounts which apparently is necessary for syncing to work.My perception is that some of the setting descriptions and selections on the iPhone for the Fantastical watch app are confusing and/or are not consistent with the Fantastical 3 app settings functionality on an iOS device or on a Mac. A thorough and detailed tutorial on the watch app would be very helpful in order to explain how all the settings are to function on the watch. Without this it’s difficult to determine if what the watch app is doing is a bug or not. Until things are sorted out with the watch app I’ll stick to just using Fantastical on my iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Sorry about the issues you’re having with the watch app here. It sounds like the app isn’t syncing properly here. To reset the watch app, follow these steps: * Uninstall Fantastical for Apple Watch app* Restart your Apple Watch* install Fantastical for Apple Watch app* Force quit the Apple Watch (while viewing Fantastical on the watch, hold the side button until you see an alert to power down the watch, then let go of that side button and press the Digital Crown and hold. Fantastical will quit)* Re-open Fantastical for iPhone, and then open Fantastical for Apple WatchIf you need further support or have any other questions, please get in touch with the support team here: https://flexibits.com/contact
