Fastmail is a solid, privacy-friendly email app that feels simple and focused. It works well for daily email, has a clean design, and is less distracting than many big email apps. I like that it feels made for people who actually want control over their inbox. My main complaint is that some settings and advanced features can feel less polished or less intuitive than Gmail or Apple Mail.

After using Microsoft 365 and iCloud+, I switched everything to Fastmail for my personal and business domains, and honestly it has been a great experience. The app is extremely fast, clean, and focused without all the extra clutter and upselling. Email, contacts, and calendar sync perfectly between my iPhone and Mac.I also really like that Fastmail feels simple but still very powerful. Push notifications are instant, the interface is clean, and managing custom domains was much easier than expected.A lot of reviews here complain about things that honestly haven’t been an issue for me. If you want a professional, privacy-focused email service that just works reliably, Fastmail is excellent.

The service is amazing. The app is pretty good. My issues with it are that it’s basically just the website in an app. It doesn’t support background refresh. You have to wait a few seconds to see new emails load when you open the app. It’s pretty basic and plain and sort of dated as far as design goes but contains all features and options the web app offers. (You only need to go to the website for billing. You can do everything else in the app.) The aliases and masked email features are top notch and so is their support team. They’re fast, polite, and helpful!

When I receive a notification and take an action on it like “delete” it doesn’t delete I open the app and it shows the mail I received even though I deleted it by swiping down the notification and delete the received mail.In app Notes doesn’t support apple pencil which makes no sense of writing notes it’s just as a notepad where notes should be typed.

Have been a user for years and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. The service is solid and the support is good. The apps and overall UI/UX are pretty dated though. I’m not advocating for Liquid Glass (I would advocate against it actually) but Fastmail overall is more utilitarian than anything else. The iOS app still hasn’t adopted things like home screen widgets. That’s a pretty big miss in my workflow and causes me to still rely on the iOS calendar app. I wish Fastmail would trail blaze more in these areas of leveraging the abilities of the OS and refining their design and visual appearance.

UPDATE:Aug2024-Dec:Lately it has been hanging a LOT, requiring forced app restarts. Both iPad and iPhone. Particularly common after the app has been idle for a while. Prior to this year, it had been stable for years.It must be great given that I’m here merely to gripe about a small thing. Gripe: It takes way too many clicks to copy the address an email was sent to to the clipboard. I use disposable email addresses mostly (unique to each recipient, so there are hundreds) so I’m constantly needing to do this. I can see each address while scrolling through emails in a thread. but it’s: Click to expand tap, tap to show details (Yeah, NO, it’s not on this giant menu!??!) (NO, at this point or the last, I can’t long tap on the address either - that works in some other apps but in this one, that gets me almost nowhere as selecting and copying is impossible or really difficult and unpredictable that way—And my recollection is it was easier back in pre- iPhone 4 days but that’s an iOS issue...) Note: Discovering through trial and error that there is no quicker way to accomplish the task takes way, way more steps than shown here! tap for menu Tap for more Tap for copy
