Description

FileUtils - Advanced file operations and utilities integrated right into macOS Finder.

FileUtils enables some advanced file operations, which are available from macOS Finder contextual and toolbar action menus. While FiIeUtils is running, invoking Finder contextual or toolbar action menu will show additional items, each invoking specific file operation executed by FileUtils. Additional items shown in both Finder contextual and toolbar action menus are fully customizable, so only the most used actions and operations can be shown in the menus. FileUtils also provides Finder file services menu, so each operation can be assigned a specific keyboard shortcut and then invoked and executed on selected files in Finder with a keyboard, without using mouse and invoking Finder menus.

Operations currently available in FileUtils:
• Delete files bypassing the Trash, using normal deletion or three standard deletion security methods
• Archive files and expand archives, common archive types and compression methods are supported
• Browse archives and expand only specific file/folder through hierarchical contextual and toolbar action menus in Finder
• Full POSIX file permissions (drwxrwxrwx), including propagation of permissions down the folder hierarchy
• Access Control List, for even finer file access control and permissions
• Show effective file access for every user in the system
• Multiple files batch rename with powerful and flexible renaming options
• Size browser, hierarchically showing files based on their sizes, in the columns and graph view
• Calculate file checksums, most common hash types available (MD2, MD4, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 variants…)

New operations and features are constantly being added. For any suggestions, thoughts and questions, please contact us at fileutils@zigz.ag

Kenji Kato ,

Great set of tools added to context menu!

I love great shortcut utilities that expose features to the finder that are hard to get to or even hidden for the most part.
FileUtils is just one of those apps. It exposes system features in an elegant way that seems intuitive and well thought out.
An example is its menu that provides proper access to POSIX permissions. It just feels intuitive and very Mac like.
While it's probably not as useful for casual Mac users. It’s very handy for anyone who's a power user and doesn’t want to open terminal every time they need to perform one of the actions that FileUtils provides.
It's a great start and I hope that it continues to grow in features.
An example of a super useful addition, would be for the Checksum menu to compare the computed checksum of a file to that of one copied into the clipboard, and let you know if they match.
