After reading the list of premium features and checking out the prices, I opted for a 1-year subscription to save money. Big mistake! It turns out most lakes and some entire states have no premium data to speak of. Company very kindly helped me get a refund, because I live in Colorado, and the lakes I’m interested in have no premium content at all. It’s pretty hard to figure out how to request a refund for a subscription on the App store, unfortunately, but Fishidy app team went out of their way to guide me through the process. While attempting to download nonexistent premium data, I also encountered a really hard-to-use interface for outlining a region on a map to download the nonexistent data. Some ESRI feature or other. They really need to get rid of that—especially if there’s no data there to begin with. I hope they can improve these things, because I would love an app that does what this does in my area.
Hi Walt, we appreciate the feedback. Not all waterways in Fishidy offer Premium-level coverage, and we're looking at better ways to convey that. If there's anything else we can help you with feel free to always reach out to support@fishidy.com. Thanks!
This app is a great logging tool to mark personal fishing spots, bait or lures used and other data. I found the interface a little clunky in setting up markers which brings you to another map where you search again for the lake you were just viewing. Other apps I've used like this have been able to drop markers in real time in the current screen interface. As with in app purchase models, this app was essentially a personal logging tool unless you buy the monthly subscription or recruit all your friends to download the app, sign into the community and enter and then share all their info with you. Even with the discount of purchasing a year's subscription to the apps features of fishing reports and info for different lakes, the price is still cost prohibitive for me. It's not cheap for considering the lake info and fishing reports found online. Could the developers tease free users with a little more quality content to incentivize a subscription?
I use Fishidy regularly but the Activity stream is hit or miss it seems. Although I have several waterways that I follow, the Activity doesn’t seem to be displayed on all the waterways using the app. I noticed this when I went on Fishidy on my PC: different activity for same waterway as on the app (that is, different on my phone and iPad vs my PC). Also, I notice a different set of comments on the app as on the PC for the same Activity. Last, I’ll receive Activity or Comment notifications on my phone, and it takes me to a login page which simply does not login to the site (I’m definitely using the correct login and password). Since I know part of Fishidy’s attraction is the community aspect, this is a problem. For me anyway. Thanks.
ShwanAir, thanks for the feedback, we will pass this along to our development team and reach out if we have any other questions. Thanks!
Great app for enhancing your fishing experience through low impact technology. I use Fishidy every time I'm on the water for navigation as well as cataloging successful locations, conditions and presentations. It's even useful on lesser known waters that don't have contour maps because you can plot "catches" and "spots" on satellite image maps. (This might be my favorite feature.)I also use the fishing hot spots points of interest for help on unfamiliar waters or to take a shot at a new structure on my local lakes. It is important to make sure your gps is working properly on your phone or tablet to get the most out of Fishidy.Overall very good piece of tackle!
FISHIDY isn’t a bad service. It definitely needed some polish and got some with the new updates. However, there are still some bugs to work out. Additionally, I’d like to see more improvements for uploading photos and adding more information. I’d love for Fishidy to have a fish log which tracks data that I enter. Based on my previous years worth of data, it could help me plan my tournaments. Also when logging fish, how about a total weight or multiple species entry? If I’m holding a smallmouth and largemouth in the same pic, I can’t enter as both or a collective weight.I still love FISHIDY and you should try it out. It’s like FB for fisherman.
TNBassMan10, thanks for the detailed feedback, we appreciate that! Great idea about adding multiple photos/details to a single "catch". We will pass this along to our development team.
I recently installed and purchased a premium plan of the Fishidy app for the sole feature of being able to sync my waypoints wirelessly to my Raymarine Axiom MFD, what a waste. The app requires you to manually move the arrow to the coordinate with no ability to just type in the long/lat!?!? What’s better is even after I go through this absurd process, the app usually gets stuck with a spinning wheel and won’t save the spot. In addition, I was excited to see the “insights” what a joke, it just gives me general information about most species. The weather and wind is not only inaccurate, but usually doesn’t load and just displays 0’s. Finally, the sea temperature does not display on the map even when the layer is toggled on. If I could give 0 stars I would, wish I could get my $9.98 back!!
