Distance Tool allows for quick and easy calculations to find distances between points on a map, including area calculations for non-overlapping polygons drawn. Includes metric (meters, kilometers) and imperial units (yards, miles, feet for altitude) for distances. Co-ordinates can either be displayed in decimal or degrees, meters and seconds.

Useful for mapping fields in agriculture, plots of land/home boundaries, or for general interest in distances and areas!

Functionality to drop a point at your current location (GPS or otherwise), and to email the results. Tap briefly to drop points anywhere on the map.

Share your drawing (shape) by email, which includes a file that can be opened on any device with Distance Tool.

Allows the standard map views of standard, satellite and hybrid.

Supports quick altitude calculation without data connectivity. Find out how high up you are! Or see the altitude of ANY point (requires data).

Freehand draw: Draw any shape on the map to quickly calculate area.

Follow Mode: Calculate distance or areas simply by moving!

A good start

I can think of so many more features that would make this such a fantastic tool. What if you could drag a circle out from a central pin to show equidistant points from the center. What if you could tap a line to see its distance instead of needing to find the second-placed terminal pin. Hold down on a line to add a pin? Instead of having to reverse all the later pins. Toggle visibility of Lat and Long lines, and can snap pins to be co-latitudinal or co-longitudinal with the previous pin? Tap on a country to add it as a polygon with its area, I’d love to select a cluster of adjacent countries and know their total area, for comparison. So much more.

Great Tool For Quadcopter Flight Planning.

I know my limitations on my non GPS quad when scouting new areas to fly. Helps prevent crashes and fly always due to exceeding the safe flight distance for each individual quadcopter. It is also great for measuring large field and valleys where I can push the limits on my GPS quads. Measurements match my GPS quad measurements.

Distance tool.

The pin drops are way too sensitive to remove. If you drop a pin and try to delete it, in doing so, it drops a new pin. Thus is a shame because I use to use this app a lot. If they could fix this issue I would rate the app 5 out of 5 because it’s ear of use is better than any other by far. This issue causes the app to be useless. I emailed the company but they haven’t fixed the problem. They are always easy to work with and always get back to you if you email them. I hope they fix this problem.

You can change the pin drop to how it used to be in the settings by unselecting "Tap to add pin".
