Flo Cycle & Period Tracker
Ratings & Reviews
I used to love flo. I’ve been using the app since my junior year of high school (I’m now a senior in college). I appreciate how I’ve been able to track my period through the years, as it’s been enormously helpful to my overall health, well-being, and awareness of my body. That being said, I have really struggled with the new updates that flo has undergone. Not only has the app become significantly less user-friendly, but the constant push to “go premium” has really negatively impacted my experience. I understand why they have a premium option, and I respect that it is there, but what I don’t respect is how I’m constantly being mislead in order to be trapped into signing up for a premium subscription. I find it really irresponsible that women who don’t want to pay for this app, will be given insights about their menstrual health, only to find out that they can’t have access to the information behave they don’t have an account! I used the chat feature a few times before, and it’ll leave me responding to chats for about 5 minutes, and right before they give me an answer about my health, they say I need to subscribe! It’s honestly cruel that an app meant to help women feel more secure about their health, is constantly misleading them like this, or trying to buy their desire for basic health info! Most of which can be googled, btw. I’ve really loved using flo, but am honestly considering shifting gears if things don’t change soon.
Developer ResponseHi mallalalalalalalalala,Thank you for sharing this. We’re sorry to hear you’re disappointed that we moved some features out of the free plan. Premium subscriptions fund the ongoing development of the app, while keeping the basics free for everyone. We welcome your feedback. Please email us at support@flo.health.Kind Regards,Flo Support Team
I used this app for a couple years to track my period and symptoms every month. (Like most). And I found it very useful to see symptoms that I would get routinely every month, especially since I wasn’t always exactly on schedule. At the time I always had my period every month and from my knowledge I thought it was normal the cycle lengths I had. But after two years Flo popped up with a notification letting me know “Your symptoms match up with people who have PCOS and thought was aren’t drs. We think you should ask or bring it up to your OBGYN.” My phone died right after and when I would try to look it up later I constantly ran in to pms. Acouple years pass and I out of the blood skip my period for three months with no pregnancy but period pains with no blood. I call my obgyn and they tell me. “We think you have pcos, we are gonna do blood work to make sure but we are pretty certain” blood work came back and I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. Which was a relief and yet scary all at the same time. But it made me think back to when the Flo app sent me that message years prior, telling me to chat with my dr. I really appreciate this app and the developers for recognizing that pcos is a thing and people can go through life not every knowing or being diagnosed. So I told my dr about how my period tracker on my phone recommended I chat with them about it. So if you had any thoughts on why this app is so useful and above the rest. This is why it meant so much to me!

Gave a 5 star so this will be seen.I have been using this app for well over 5 years, it used to be so great and user friendly. And I really appreciated being able to track my cycle and have insight as to what I was going through, all the way up to when I got pregnant early last year with my daughter. & then the app didn’t really have much to offer compared to other apps as far as tracking my pregnancy. I redownloaded the app once I started having periods again postpartum and every so many minutes within using the app, it prompts me to purchase the full subscription to be able to use even basic features that used to be available to everyone without purchase. In addition, when it prompts you to make a purchase, it literally forces you to agree and continue into the purchase by not allowing an exit button or anything to back out of the ad until you’re having to deny the purchase when it tries to ask for a payment method. It’s ridiculous that they are so money hungry that they now feel the need to try to force you into a purchase. It will also offer insight on your cycle but then pop up with an ad that you need to make a purchase to even see the insight. Other than being able to enter when you have your period and look back on the calendar, it is now a pointless app, I can literally use the calendar on my phone to do the same thing.

I love this app. I’ve had it ever since I’ve started my period, and it’s amazing. It’s accurate and even tho sometimes I’m a little late or early I don’t mind it because it gives me a general time and I’m not guessing like my other peers. I also could be getting more accurate if I logged in my symptoms everyday, something that IVE SEEN make it extremely accurate. Flo gives you articles after you’ve logged symptoms as well to try and help you, something I adore. These articles have been great to explore and for me to see what’s going on with my body. Flo’s community is amazing too!! All the girls are extremely respectful and helpful and is only trying to make another person feel more comfortable. They have a community part where you can anonymously chat with other girls, and you get notifications on the app when someone replies, something that’s an added feature, and I love it. Something else, that’s an amazing part of Flo, is that they have a lock on the app too, if you choose. A lot of friends like to go on my phone, and I would rather not let them see my period tracker. Flo sends reminders when your period is on your way too! And if you have a certain goal like getting pregnant, Flo with gladly help. (Something I haven’t explored quite yet based on my age.) There are indeed small cons, like some of the articles you have to get Flo Premium, and all the courses, you just pay, but those are only optional things, and I’m just fine without them. So, if you’re wondering, get Flo!
Jesus loves you guys, thank you so much for helping me with my period. 🩸💕God loves you so much and He saved me. I actually used to blame God for my period, but now I thankfully know that it’s not because of Him and anything that’s bad isn’t from Jesus, who is God. Anything good or important that comes from periods is because of Jesus, for He is the source of everything good. Even though it’s our faults that we allowed sin into the world, which allowed bad things and evil into the world too. Jesus still allows good things to come our way from those bad things, and He does with periods too. I wish I could give all you ladies like a years worth of the best pads and heating pads for cramps for your period, but just know that it’s gonna be okay and you’re all strong and admiral for what your body does to prepare for you future baby. I’m pretty sure there was a woman in the Bible who was bleeding for 12 years, and since she put her faith in Jesus and that even just touching His robe would heal her, He did. And she was blessed just everyone else is. I know that we can be annoyed or even jealous that guys don’t have to go through this, but if you think about it. That just means that we’re stronger in another way and our bodies do something incredible. I’m not trying to downplay the pain, I just wanna let you guys see the good from periods and how those good things are from the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you! ✝️🙏🏼📖
Developer ResponseHello, JESUS LIVES!!!👑. We truly appreciate your uplifting words and the deep perspective you share about periods. Your positivity is infectious and serves as a great reminder of resilience and strength. Thank you for spreading such love and encouragement! Yours, Flo
This is my first time actually using a ‘tracking app’ and it was so easy for me as usually it’s just “too much” and I end up deleting it. I’ve been able to track my periods for a year now & have discovered not only do I have an extremely irregular period, (lasting 45+ days between cycles) which brought me into my OB-GYN, which helped me get to the root of the issue which I never even knew about because I never tracked my periods prior. It’s great, it tracks not only your flow; how heavy, but your MOODS & SYMPTOMS. Example: sad, mood swings, self-critical..etc. And than symptoms as ‘cramping, bloating, fatigue, backache, acne, etc..’ ~ I love that I can cross reference which moods I experience the most & it’s helped me so much. I do not LOVE the “pay more to get better health care” part, as this app would be perfect if they didn’t ask you to pay to track your own period.. that’s where the 4 stars came in. Other than that, I love this app. It’s great for even a daughter who just got her period & to teach her to keep track and log moods.. I WISH I had this as a teen! It’s great. Highly recommended, I just wish they didn’t ask you to pay for the “premium” content which I think we should all have access to since you can probably Google most of it, and so many of us love the app.. I’m sure if you took that out, people would probably be more willing to pay a smaller fee of something just because you removed the really expensive one that none of us can afford, hence why we bought the free version 🤷♀️ but I still love the app!!!!!
I really like this app! It helped me track my cycles and ovulation when I was trying to get pregnant, and then was super easy to swap over when I was finally pregnant! And the pregnancy side of things have been so good!!! I love opening it every day to find my new tips and advice for the day. It also helps me track my water, which I love. But, the new updates it has gone through have been sort of weird. It always prompts me to input my weight to track it, but that feature is gone! There is nowhere for me to input my weight anymore. Also, the chat feature is gone! I liked the “chat” at the beginning of every week even though you can only respond with pre written responses, it was very informative and useful. One week of pregnancy was incorrect (said I was week 8 even though I moved on to week 9) and it didn’t work because it knew something was wrong, and now I haven’t seen it since. Lastly, I loved all the of “stories” that it gave me during first trimester. A week to talk about exercise, a week for nutrition, a week for working while pregnant, etc. but as soon as second trimester hit, there’s nothing! I really looked forward to reading it everyday, but now there’s just a lack of information. I begin to wonder what I’m getting by paying “premium” because it sort of stopped all of the major things it was helping me with. But I loved it, so I’m mostly writing this review to let the creators know what they need to fix and bring back!!
Developer ResponseHi Jess brownie! We’re very sorry to hear that! We really want to help you, but we need to know your identifier in the app to find the reason for the issue and provide a solution. Please contact us from the app (Menu - Help - Contact us), and we’ll get back to you with more details on your request. Kind regards, Flo Team
This app is seriously awesome. I was just looking for a basic tracker as I transitioned off my birth control and it’s turned out to be so much more. Not only does it let me track almost everything I need to, but I’ve actually learned so much. I can’t believe that at age 28 with a masters degree, there was still so much I didn’t know about how my own body worked. Between the health insights and secret chats it’s been pretty enlightening. This is a great space for talking about things that typically aren’t discussed in our society. I hadn’t planned on upgrading but took advantage of a great sale they were running around New Years and it’s been totally worth it. I highly recommend.Update: been using this for over a year now and still like it though I don’t use all the features as much as I did. My main criticism is that the monthly “Flo assistant” is super annoying and not really helpful. First of all I really dislike the “texting/ chat” format. I’m sure this is good for teens but I would rather the info just be displayed to me as a list, graph, etc. Its also very repetitive and generally not helpful (“you tend to log happy on weekends!”). I’d much rather know how many days in a row before my period I log a certain symptom, but it doesn’t tell you that, and if you want to use it at all you have to sit though the whole annoying “chat.”Finally, it would be great it we could create our own symptoms to log. I know there are certain things I experience on a monthly basis but there’s no way for me to track them.
Developer ResponseHi Luk 4567,We truly appreciate your feedback! We’re very happy you enjoy using Flo. Let us know if you ever need assistance.Kind regards,Flo Support Team
Update/edit: To the Development team: PLEASE READ ALL OF THE RECENT REVIEWS. Your users don't need to be told "the premium subscription pays for us to develop the app"...like we don't know how that works ??? We do. It seems the consensus is that EVERYONE would 100% rather see ads instead of being harassed to buy stupid premium. Guess what ? YOU STILL MAKE MONEY USING ADS. Stop making excuses for your greed, it's so insulting to your loyal users. Also, just stop with your copy&paste response to every single one of these reviews saying the same thing. It's just so rude and makes you look horribly uncaring and greedy. Original review: I would give five stars as I have been using this app for over five years now and it's extremely accurate and easy to use. but, I am getting very annoyed at how every time I open the app now before I can even look at anything it pops up pressuring me to buy the app to get all the features (using the cover of celebrating how many years I've used it; I do not care). I do not have the money for this and wish I could use the app's basic features without being bothered and feeling pressured to buy something I cannot afford right now. When I open the app and it does this, I unfortunately just force quit it and forget it. I know they want to keep the app ad-free, but honestly I'd much rather see ads at the bottom of the page that I can ignore while using the app freely and unbothered. Maybe consider giving users an option to opt into ads because they really don't give me an issue.
It really is sad that the premium feature is even necessary for this type of thing. I feel the best way to make money would be by maybe adding ads, or maybe people could buy a premium where it just customizes everything. One feature I feel should not be paid for, is the thing where you can talk to a professional about your health issues, or trying to find a specific article to read for a major problem you’ve been having, and to see how everyone else has dealt with it. As a woman and tons of other woman who use flo, feel like crap about this. Flo wasn’t just about tracking, it was about relating with all the anonymous people about basic woman problems that are to uncomfortable to talk about in real life. It really saddens me you have done this, especially when the “AI message” or whatever, says something along the lines of “your period is off” or “there could be medical problems, and then let that “AI” continue the conversation, and then wait until the end to tell you to buy premium. I just feel you have many ways around “keeping the basics free”, at least give some things back to us and make more things for people to buy, that are unrelated to something that should automatically be on your app to help women. I know it’s been two years of people saying this on the reviews so this probably won’t reach far, I’m just hoping in some way it’ll be better😕
