Exceptional Language Guide

Flowlingo empowers me in a practical way to enjoy learning a new language. The idea of sifting through practice question after practice question to learn a new language as I have in encountered in other teaching methods is a means to an end that I have loathed. The hierarchy of foundations to learn to progress in some other teaching methods of languages also gets in my way.

What is so beautiful about flowlingo is I just look for articles, videos, or even books that I find interesting. From there I can pick up learning so naturally with my own curiosity of the subject matter of my choosing. The translate tool is done so well. The barriers I confront in learning a new language have been greatly diminished in what this app is working towards. I am in Love!

Thank you Flowlingo!

Barely works

So it seems like the concept is simply a browser that lets you lookup highlighted text and get the English translation. Great concept, it’s exactly what I was looking for. However, the browser lacks proper navigation buttons and other features that most other browsers have. Highlighting text is difficult to control as the highlighter moves around a lot and sometimes the highlighter gets stuck and no longer worlds. I tried multiple times, but couldn’t get through a single article without either locking up the highlighter or accidentally navigating away from the page and unable to get back to the article. The start page has news articles from last year. I’m using the free version, but why anyone would pay a subscription for this tool is beyond me. This should be a one time payment app. If the developer focused on becoming a better browser and fixed the highlighting issues, I think this could be a great way to learn reading in a different language.

Great app

This is a very natural way to learn. You get nice translations and can click on a word or highlight a sentence to see the translation. When you do click on a word to look at the translation it automatically creates a flash card for you. I would definitely recommend using Flowlingo if you have been trying to learn a language for a while but nothing sticks. Personally, I have been writing down paragraphs in a notebook, random paragraphs with a variety of words, and then writing a translation and just rereading the paragraph until I understand it without translation. I have tried duolingo, Rosetta Stone, babbel, but I feel like this pushes me at a faster, but more natural pace and doesn’t have me repeating, “¿cómo estás?” 100 times.
