Description

Fluid Browser is a floating browser built to view your favorite media like Netflix and YouTube right alongside your work. Fluid Browser works just like any other browser, however, once active Fluid Browser only shows your media or web content hiding away all other features of the browser.

There is only so much space on your computer screen, Fluid Browser makes the most of it. Fluid Browser floats on top of open applications and can easily be resized. Fluid Browser gives the user full control over transparency by a simple touch of a keystroke to easily see and work behind content.

Finally, Fluid Browser is beyond media. Upload or drag PDFs, images or movies (.mp4 for now, .mov coming soon) into the browser to increase productivity or reference work.

Use Fluid Browser to:

-- Watch Netflix while typing a paper
-- Watch YouTube while shopping online
-- Watch a tutorial while working with Photoshop
-- Learn how to code while using Xcode
-- Watch Twitch while playing Minecraft
-- And much more!

List of supported media websites for edge to edge viewing:

-- Youtube
-- Netflix
-- Vimeo
-- Youku
-- Cable provider sites such as CNN, Fox News and others

Minimalist, Useful, but rough

I worked as a front end developer thus, my life is browsers so Fluid app struck my curiousity. I’m a bit iffy on the morality of repackaging the webkit with a fancy UI. Fluid’s user-agent string reports interestingly as iOS but without touch events. While the default UA reports it as Safari 6.0, the support is essentially the same as Safari 9 desktop. Immediately a few real cons are apparent: Fluid doesn’t support any privacy setitngs, there’s no way to install popular JS tracking blockers like Ghostery or other useful plugins like 1password. Preferences are spartan, User Agent changing, clear cache and history, and really that’s about it as for setitngs of consequence. There’s also no development tools. Want inspect element? look elsewhere.

Usuage is straight forward, its simply a browser that’s always ontop with an address bar that disappears. Clever, but perhaps not so much that it warrents it own price.

App is awful unless you specifically just want to watch netflix.

Very useless for most practical applications, I was hoping it would be able to serve a browser and keep it in front of my editing application but everything will be warped and it's incredibly difficult to modify any of your preferences. Wished I didn't purchase it. The pictures make this app seem a lot better than it actually is.

At one point this app was great, but not anymore.

If you want to use this to watch media form any streaming service it just wont work. Even with the update that said is specificly fixed that issue. It still will not work.

I don't know if this is the fault of Fluid or if they are being thwarted by the streaming services, but it doesn't mater. The outcome is the same. It doesn't work. Don't waste your money.
