Five star app masquerading as three
What a pity that this app hasn’t been updated for Audiobus. It even appears like it may have been abandoned.
As it is, it’s still a fierce fx processor for guitar coming in through external audio in. The quality of fx is terrific and the effects are very imaginative. I prefer it over amp emulation apps, because it’s easy enough to add overdrive and custom eq right in this app.
I might complain that the app tries to be a little “artsy cute” with the distracting purple blotch visualizer and controls that aren’t always easy to get to. They could have served users better by just getting to the controls, thank you.
Still, if the app hadn’t been blown up by OS changes, I would have given it five stars. Not the developer’s fault, but the app no longer works as intended.
Somewhat works, just needs update, but awesome
At first, I could not get this app to work at all, it just crashes in audiobus 3, and in standalone mode all input/outputs are greyed out and unselectable. I gave up for a week or so.... then tried to open in Cubasis 2, bam, works, mostly. You have to slap on a lowpass filter, and leave it always on, it was the only way I could make the input audio stop crackling, takes up one fx slot, but if you set the filter just right it doesn’t affect sound much, just eliminates the crackles and makes flux:fx completely usable and awesome.
Please update! I’ll pay you lol, maybe an option to use other stuff in effect slots, like audiodamage effects and such. That would make this a 30 dollar 6 star app. Thanks either way, don’t let this one die.
This app still has the cleanest and most reliable signal processing of any guitar effects app I have used. I love the clarity of the “splat” fuzz especially and how the dynamics work with a low pass filter. It seems to be the one I go back to every time. Even in GarageBand (when I used to use it) I would us fluxfx rather than the #fakeguitareffects and #fakeguitaramps which is the biggest thing I like about this app (besides the fact that Adrian Belew is involved and you can dial up some of his vernacular in the presets) is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not - meaning there are no pedal or amp simulators -
No fake green Ibanez tube screamers
No fake JCM800
No fake Tweed
No fake fuzz face
No fake etc etc.
it’s not a #FakeApp ... like not at all.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
