Description

* Export requires a one-time in-app purchase *

FontConverter is a handy tool for designers and font enthusiasts. It lets you easily view old PostScript fonts and, if you want, convert them into the new OpenType Font format. Whether you're curious about vintage fonts or need to update them for modern use, FontConverter has you covered.

FontConverter can load kerning pairs from .AFM, .PFM or font-suitcase files. Just make sure to include those files when selecting your PostScript fonts.

Exporting as OpenType Font is available as an in-app purchase. The free version can only be used to view fonts with a custom preview text and kerning and to explore the workflow of the app before purchasing the full version.

Mr. Reeee ,

Works Well!

With Type 1 Postscript font support ending with Adobe applications and elsewhere, I started looking for a reasonably price font converter so I can contini=ue to use fonts I use regularly and NOT have to buy tthem again.

The highest rated Type 1 font converters were all arouund $100.
FontConverter I found by googling around.

It works well. Easy, quick and straightforward.

It does have ONE annoyance.
Converted fonts are assigned the names of the original bitmappped font, so each converted OpenType font file needs to be carefully renamed.

It's not the end of the world, but $25 for an application I'll use only occasionally, it's fine.

Fix the file name glitch and it easily gets
5 stars.
For now, 4.

Mr. Osek ,

$24.99 In-app purchase to convert fonts

Sorry for venting on this one app (as they are not the only ones), but I have become intolerant of apps that hide the pricing with in-app purchases. In many cases, this app devs concealed the price instead of being upfront. I won't purchase this app in protest. Just Stop It. Apple this is on you too, you're enabling it.

Developer Response ,

We are sorry to hear that you feel we're hiding something. Our intention was actually the opposite: We wanted to give customers the chance to try out the workflow of the app and to test it before buying it.
We will look into how we can communicate this better, other than the note that is already in the description.
