Best player with one flaw.
I found this is the best player with saving your phone battery with best sound output. Only issue is that when it sync with my iTunes or say Apple Music library it doesn’t keep my playlist as they are in Apple Music app. So in that case every time any changes one need to make changes in playlist of foobar2000. There could be simple software tweak to keep the Apple Music app’s playlist made as it is to appear in the foobar2000. There is some album/artist but that is weird and not something which one custom make in Apple Music app. So having this update would be lot useful. Just show the way playlist is in the Apple Music app and show those exactly same way in the foobar2000 too. It shouldn’t be that difficult. Charge $2 fir the app if there is need for this app feature addition. People will pay because of quality and use.
Straightforward No Nonsense Music App
I downloaded this app several years ago, and never really used it to be honest, as it seemed redundant to the Apple Music app and I never really had any issues with it.
Fast forward and my living situation has temporarily changed. I would like to listen to my large music library while at home on my iPhone (organized over the course of MANY years through the desktop version of Foobar2000). However I only have a 32GB iPhone, limiting the quantity of songs I can sync at one time.
So I remember that I had toyed around with using the UPnP media server and renderer component on the desktop years ago but never ended up using them. I then turn both components on and find that the Foobar app is able to immediately access the media server and flawlessly playback (and download) my media library via WiFi. No issues or hiccups, just no nonsense playback of my media library from my phone.
I know there are several freemium media player apps out there that support network media libraries, but Foobar is free, works excellently especially for those with a very large library of media in assorted formats. That and it displays embedded album art without issue! There isn’t any Chromecast or video playback support that I’m aware of (like you can setup on the big boy desktop version), but that isn’t a big issue. Though component support would be awesome.
Excellent replacement for the stock Music app
Foobar2000 may not be the slickest-looking or intuitive music app available on the App Store, but its customisability, speed and responsiveness make up for its aesthetic shortcomings. Since Apple changed its default Music app to prioritise streaming subscriptions and cloud-based music, it’s become more difficult to listen to one’s own carefully curated music library using the app. Music constantly returns to the main Library page if you switch apps, loses your place if you’re browsing songs by titles, and keeps pushing radio and streaming. Foobar2K acts like the good old-fashioned Music app: it remembers your place if you’re viewing songs as a list, doesn’t send you back to the home screen, lets you add custom folders, and doesn’t push streaming plans at you. And best of all, it’s completely *free of charge*.
