Wide range of voice options but has issues
The good thing about this app is the number of voice options. You aren't limited to Apple voices, it can also use voices from Amazon, Google and Microsoft - in many different languages.
There are a couple of major downsides, however. First, you cannot just plop some text into a box and have it speak. The text apparently is shipped off to some online service for processing, and you get back an MP3 file. This means editing will be a chore.
Second, the online aspect is also used to limit the number of characters you can convert per-week. Initially the limit ssems to be 5,790 but clicking the "Get More" button brings up a dialog urging me to "Sign In", so I suspect there may be charges beyond that weekly limit.
Sorry, but I don't "sign in" for something as trivial as text-to-speech. My Amiga did text-to-speech for free out of the box back in 1986, and it's a built-in API in MacOS. Also SaaS is out of control and we as users really need to stop rewarding bad behavior.
