Really enjoying, but some cards seem broken

The core gameplay is awesome. This is a really fun rouge-like with great replayability and exciting tension.

I’m hoping the dev will see this review, because I’ve been unable to reach out for support, but some cards seem broken. My special survivor types (I.e singer, picker, etc.) all show the “fatigue” symbol as the activation cost. I didn’t really understand how this would work, but when I look at gameplay videos online of the pc version, they have activation costs (like food or wood) that make sense. Not sure if this is a bug, or maybe something I haven’t unlocked, but it’s blocking a lot of gameplay for me.

Those issues aside, the game is great fun and recommended.

Really Nice Unique Survival Game

I really don’t understand the complaint in one of the reviews that the game is “too random”. That is the purpose of the game. You make choices every step to increase your chances against random events. I am really enjoying Frost. The gameplay really does feel like a survival or a roguelike game where you’re not supposed to necessarily win even if you make good decisions every turn. The event cards create a pretty nice diverse gameplay every time you play. Three resources create many combinations for cards to buy within every attempt.

I also enjoy the art style that looks like someone has drawn by hand on paper as opposed to creating it entirely on computer. I don’t know whether it’s actually the case but it looks nice. Also the audio is very impressive.

Very difficult, very random

First, the game is almost unplayable on an iPhone because of its small size. The graphics are simply scaled down from the desktop version, and are so small that buttons are very difficult to press and none of the text is readable. I was only able to play because I am familiar with the desktop version of the game. Second, the game is unfairly difficult and ridiculously random. Very often you need to so a random search to acquire resources, and far too often you either get nothing of value in return or your character dies. It's incredibly frustrating to try to build up resources and come up empty handed. The "easy" difficultly level is insanely difficult. To win you need to perfectly manage your resources and have great luck on your side. This game could be good if it was made much less difficult and had random events be beneficial more often. As it is, it's an incredibly frustrating experience.
