Feed those in need, one picture at a time.

Over 40 million Americans currently face hunger, not knowing where they will find their next meal. GiftAMeal allows you to help at no cost.

Simply take a photo on the GiftAMeal app at a participating restaurant to provide a meal to someone in need in your community. Share your picture on social media to give additional meals! Your photo can be of food, drink, a receipt, friends, something cool at the restaurant, or even a selfie.

How does it work? Restaurants pay to be on our app as a mix of marketing and giving back - it’s free for you! Anytime you take a photo at one of our participating restaurants, GiftAMeal makes a donation to a local food bank. These donations go towards distributing nutritious food to neighborhood pantries where those in need can access it.

Over 500,000 meals have been gifted to those in need so far. And every meal makes a difference. Bridgett, a single mom who previously relied on a local pantry for support, shared her story with us: “My daughter is 15. The food program really, really helped us. Her grades have gone sky-high. We’re in a good place now - we have a house and food and now we’re going to give back.”

Help someone like Bridgett with GiftAMeal today!

GiftAMeal currently has participating restaurants in St. Louis, Chicago, and Detroit.

This is a great way to help the community!

I’ve been using the app a long time and have never been able to give back as much as I do now. While I love volunteering, work makes it very hard to find time. With GiftAMeal, I have been able to help support food banks and shelters in my neighborhood give to those in need by simply checking into restaurants on my lunch breaks. I haven’t experienced any major bugs or issues since downloading the app. Also, I reached out with a couple questions and the team got back to me really quickly. It seems like they really care about their social mission. I would encourage everyone to download and start giving back. It’s really easy to use.

Won’t work!

***UPDATE*** I heard for the app developers very quickly about my issue. Within one week, I have now heard from them again with the good news that they have fixed their issue (I haven’t had the opportunity to try it yet). WOW! With attention to customers like this, I am convinced they have done what they said. BTW — they donated three meals since I was unable to use the app.

The app shows where I am currently dining, but GPS keeps timing out. I tried to take a picture of my plate, but it never goes to the camera. I tried to scan my receipt, but it never goes to the camera.

So sorry about this issue! We are working on a fix now and will be launching an app update soon. Since you weren't properly able to use the app, we will be donating to help provide 3 meals to community members in need on your behalf. Your meals number on your profile has been updated. We really appreciate you letting us know about this bug and hope you'll continue to use the app when we launch the fix! Please reach out to us at info@giftameal.com with any questions.

Love this app!!!

I was eating at one of my favorite new restaurants in St. Louis, The Chocolate Pig, and my waiter mentioned that they had recently partnered with this startup called GiftAMeal where anyone at the restaurant could give a meal to someone in need in St. Louis for free. So I decided to check out the app and was really impressed that it only took like 10 seconds to donate a meal. What an ingenious way to try to fight hunger. I saw that there were a bunch of my favorite restaurants on the app as well so I will definitely be using GiftAMeal the next time I go!
