We’ve used this app for about ten hours now. It’s pretty intuitive, though I keep messing up on the difference between choosing “completed” and “take turn” for the monsters. Well, I’m new to Gloomhaven, so it’s probably me.
The element tracker is awesome; much easier than using the tokens & board. Keeping track of damage and poison and everything else for our foes is pretty seamless. Much simpler than tokens & board. Adding monsters and rooms is easy, and so is differentiating between elite and “unleaded” monsters.
One problem: switched apps on my iPhone X to check the weather after a pop up notification. The first couple times I switched apps, I resumed Gloomy Tracker with no problems. The fourth time, I lost all my data, had to click “start scenario” and had to recreate the conditions for ten enemies.
On my wish list? I’d totally pay for this app if I could have an initiative tracker that I could tap to show the order of turns. Player 1, shaman, player 2, living bones, cave bear...the app already asks for the number of players.
The only other issue we ran into is that sometimes during “take turn” we had to change stats for my maters other than the one taking the turn. Example: a forest imp takers her turn, and heals allies nearby. But I can’t go mark the Cave Bears as healed until I’ve clicked through four Forest Imps’ turns.
Also I NEED a T-shirt with the darling cartoon of the Quatryl Tinkerer plz
I haven’t even played the game yet as it’s a Christmas present, but after watching several videos and seeing the amount of table space all the admin stuff takes up, I can absolutely see the use of this app. While it may not track EVERYTHING in the campaign like other apps (I have one of them as well), this one really does the best job with combat. It’s streamlined, tracks elements (others don’t), and gives helpful reminders for small stuff it’s easy to forget, like dropping coins on monster death. While I will probably use the stuff in the box the first few times just for the experience, in the long run I fully expect to use this app to speed everything up. Well done!
Have been playing weekly for about 6 months and love this app. Simplifies keeping track of the monsters unlike any app I’ve used (which is essentially all of them). The only thing I would request as an improvement is to put the monster stats up (base movement, attack, range, extras) so that I don’t have to switch between the cards and the app. Otherwise, this app is wonderful. Can’t play without it!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
