This came up as FTP after I paid for it and will not connect. A total waste of money!

I just tested on my MacBook Air with nssdcftp.gsfc.nasa.gov.
It works like a charm.
My air is running MacOS Catalina, version 10.15.4.
Can you provider more information? Platform, OS version, remote ftp protocol and etc.

Fails to connect
Trying to connect to a sftp server but the app refuses to connect - command line sftp client has no problem
