Entertaining & different
Love this game. It's one of the few I do not offload. So, the game's very relaxing but requires precision. I couldn't have imagine putting those adjectives in the same sentence prior to playing GoL. It starts out easy but definitely becomes more challenging as one moves through the levels. There are four of five chapters with 25 levels. Even though I wish there were more "chapters" (I don't know what to call them), there's a lot to do. I've played through a few times, coming back to it every few months. It is still challenging at the upper levels. My only complaint is the weird Firefly hint deal which is not a component to enjoying the game. Buy it & encourage creativity.
Makers: Hint button. Meh. I used up all of my little bugs in one try because I didn't figure the workings of fast enough. Of course, if this is your intention, cool, I'll just think faster!
I still like it
September 2017 update. I still love it. The only problem I have is with the control “buttons” in the upper left hand corner of the screen. When a game element appears in that corner and I touch it, it stops the game. This is minor because all I need to do to get going again is press the arrow button but it is still a bit annoying.
April, 2017 update. I re-downloaded this game and I still love it but some of the previous "modules" seem to be missing and, whenever I have to stop playing to do something else, I lose my place. I'm playing on my new, completely updated iPad.
Original review: I'm playing the updated version for the first time and I like it as much as I liked the first one. It did drop me out in the middle of a level though.
Great game, terrible hint system
The game is very well done - challenging gameplay, beautiful graphics, good controls. I rated 4 instead of 5 because of the hint system. You get free hints but have to endure a 30 second ad for each one. 30 seconds is just too much. If you buy them you get 30 for a dollar. Where this gets confusing is that to use a hint you click the hint fly-thing, drag it to where you want to see and the hints keep subtracting the longer you look. I started with 30, selected the hint fly, drug it out and in about 5 seconds all my hints were gone. Oops, I didn't put the hint fly away so it was automatically using up hints. Not the way to sell hints.
