WHAT TO EXPECT:
Glacier National Park in Montana protects some of the most visually stunning mountain terrain anywhere, with giant mountain peaks, above tree-line alpine terrain and glacier fed lakes feeding alpine to valley length waterfalls. This tour also now includes visiting the beautiful Many Glacier section of the park, with terrific hikes and lake cruising available.

Though the drive is only 50 miles, expect to spend most of a full day taking in the mountain views, alpine flower filled meadows and waterfalls. While the views are numerous, the pullouts aren’t. We’ll give you plenty of notice so both the driver and passengers can relax and feel comfortable about what’s ahead.

The engineering marvels along the drive like Triple Arches and the Tunnels are visually impressive.

The Many Glacier section offers a superb and stunning collection of views and activities. Hiking options vary from rewarding uphill efforts to Grinnell Glacier, or gentler loop walks around alpine lakes. Use the cruisers for the pure sightseeing enjoyment or to shorten some of the longer hikes.

The tour begins and ends on the drive to and from Going-to-the-Sun Road, or the Many Glacier section, or join anywhere along the route.

WHAT YOU’LL SEE:
Highlights along the tour route include

• West Glacier
• Apgar
• Lake McDonald Lodge
• The Loop
• Weeping Wall
• Triple Arches
• Oberlin Bend
• Logan Pass
• Tunnels
• Big Bend
• Wild Goose Island
• Lunch Creek
• Haystack Falls
• Bird Woman Falls
• Siyeh Bend
• St Mary

CHARGING:
++ Continued use of GPS/Location Services in the background increases battery usage. We strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charge to keep your phone charged, and avoid charging through the USB port.

AUDIO:
Listen directly from your phone or connect to the car stereo via Bluetooth. Avoid using a direct connection to the USB port of a rental vehicle as this can cause audio issues. The audio can play through your car’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto display, please note that the map will display only on your phone.

IPADS:
** iPad models must include a GPS chip. Please note only the iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular models of iPad contain a GPS chip. Wi-Fi-only iPad models have limited location service capabilities and are unable to play commentary automatically.

DOWNLOADING:
The apps are larger in size in order to work offline. You must download the app ahead of time over Wi-Fi (recommended) or cellular data. Once downloaded, you can tour offline without cell service.

This is the BEST series of APP’s!

I highly recommend this series of APPs of you are planning on visiting these parks! This was a marriage saver!! If you ever struggle on what and when to see sites, while planning multiple National Park visits during peak seasons, then this is the APP for you! It takes planning to the next level! I purchased The Yellowstone/Teton and after purchased Glacier as a separate APP. It will sync to your radio so that all can hear and includes a map. The narrator was amazing, he did not talk too much and the signal was NEVER lost even though our navigation and phone signals were weak. He provided interesting commentary on the National Parks, land marks and geography. You will not be disappointed and will not need to hire a tour guide!

Indispensable for auto touring

Wow!! This is the second year we have used GypsyGuide, throughout the Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park’s GoingToTheSun Highway. It worked flawlessly with smartphone connected by Bluetooth to car’s speaker system. Just like going on a guided tour in your private vehicle. It’s display on your phone gives your exact location and where the next audio point of interest is located. I highly recommend all versions that we used.

Liked but didn’t love

Liked:

Tone of narrators voice
Length of talks for each area of interest
Automatic start at each point of interest
Tracking the car along the route

Disliked:

Topics chosen (I’d prefer more talks about nature, the discussion was mostly about building the road, number of cars which came the first year, after the narrator said he wasn’t going into the details of the lake length, depth, etc. If you’re going to say you don’t like numbers, then don’t tell me about numbers: how much the workers were paid, # of years it took to build the road, how many cars visited the first year)

Hokey tone the narrator took at times, self-deprecating has a time and place, but not on my audio tour. Just the facts ma’am.

No info given on parking tips/tricks when that’s the worst part of the park, the Logan’s Pass parking lot was full so we missed it completely.

Fact that he also narrates other tours. If this is the tone for all of the tours can I switch the voice like on my Garmin? 😂 English lady or Australian guy please.

Tips/tricks on how to get a hotel room last-minute, where to go swimming, best food in the park, etc.
