Description

The golden hour is the short window of time right after sunrise and again right before sunset, when the light is softer and a redder hue.

People tend to look the best when illuminated by light that measures warm, around 2700 kelvins. Most people agree that warm, golden hour light is the most flattering natural light.

The GoldenHour app replicates this effect by reclaiming unused screen space when using your computer for video communication, and allows you to illuminate yourself with a consistent and pleasing rosy glow.

Now for the first time, the golden hour is whenever you want it.

Very nice app for what it does.

This app is great for what it does. I have a 34 inch ultra wide diaplay that is great for lighting my face during zoom calls.

One question for the dev. Will you be updaing this app with native support for Apple Silicon? I'm going through the process of finding alterniatives for all non native apps, so I was disapointed to see this is an Intel app.

It really does work!

I was a little apprehensive about $5 for this at first, but really I was looking at some very expensive gadgets to get the same results. Calibrated temperature lights, LED strips, ring lights, you name it. But at the end of the day, I've got a 36" panel of pure light right in front of my face, and it only makes good sense to take advantage of it for this purpose.

My one complaint: I wish the app could detect when a camera activates/deactivates and could show/hide the color bars accordingly. Remembering to start it every time I join a Zoom is the one flaw. Looking at possible ways to work around this by combining something like Micro Switch with Alfred or Automator, but it would be nice if the app handled it natively.

$5 might seem like a lot for something so simple, but it's worth the money when compared to dedicated hardware that does the same. Would buy again.

I'm no longer looking like a Vampire!

I take Zoom video calls in artificial lighting and I can see how blue my face looks when I've a new tab open and lit by a white screen. Being sheltered-in-place doesn't help my naturally pale complexion. GoldenHour hasn't helped my tan, but at least I no longer look like nosferatu. Thank you GoldenHour!
