UPDATE March 2018 - thank you shotzoom for the Apple Watch update - you have resolved the only major complaint I had about the app. (When you previously updated to use the native watch gps, it took so long for gps to get an accurate reading that the app was practically unusable for me on the watch.). The new update enables real time accurate readings on the watch with no lag. Amazing - well done - best golf app out there.

ORIGINAL POST - Dec 2016 - I've tried and compared all the major golf gps / scoring apps on the market - GolfShot is the winner in my book. Apple Watch version has great interface, very usable. Occasionally I pull the iPhone out of my pocket for a satellite view of more complex situations, but generally the watch version is all I need to reference for distances and entering score and stats after each hole.

I have just recently added the official handicap tracking feature and there's no easier way to keep your official handicap rating current.

Just one feature on my wish list - the app needs to take advantage of the built in gps of the new version of Apple Watch so that you can leave the iPhone in the golf cart and still get an accurate read. They say they are working on this - hope they can get it released soon.

UPDATE July 2017 - that one feature on my wish list has just been added in the latest release. Can't wait to test it this weekend.

Subscribed to Pro Version for two years 2021 & 2022. Always golfed with Apple Watch 6 on leading wrist and iPhone 11 Pro in pocket. The first year I was pretty satisfied with shot tracking with one exception, not once did it track my shot on hole 6, a par three. I always attributed that to the muni par 3 directly across the street. Figured the software couldn’t pick the correct hole. But in fairness, my goal of learning the average distance realized for the thirteen strikers in my bag. My goal was to never score my round on the watch, or phone while playing. During year two the software had an update and from the beginning of our 7 month season. Shot tracking would stop after a few holes and would often skip holes and then start again. All the while nagging me to keep score. I read the online tutorials more times than I can count. I removed the app and reinstalled a number of times. I wrote to customer service to ask for assistance or just a chat and repeated what is outlined above. The answers I received were canned. Simple to see that when there is a different agent responding yet I received verbatim instructions over and over. The last response I had was “someone will contact you to help.” Never happened. I canceled the subscription and bought a Garmin Golf watch. The GPS and glonass tell me exactly where l am on the course. More quickly than a laser rangefinder.

UPDATE - Reply to the developer’s response: Turn off the “Auto Advance” feature is not the right solution. Please confirm that you will forward my suggestion on the correct programming algorithm to your development team. It’s a simple programming change, and it will fix the bug once and for all….. I recently paid for Golfshot Pro due to its new auto shot tracking capability. I played about 9 rounds so far using auto shot tracking. It worked generally fine with random missed shots. However, the app has an algorithm deficiency that should be corrected, as detailed below: In a situation that after I took a tee shot and Golfshot detected the shot and started tracking… if, on my way to the green, I go near or pass by a tee box area of another hole, Golfshot would abandon the ongoing shot tracking, and reset my play to the hole I was only passing by. Even when I manually reset the app to continue playing the hole I was still working on, the tracked shots and distance data are lost and unrecoverable! The correct algorithm should be: The incomplete tracking data should have been retained in the buffer, instead of being thrashed immediately, in a situation that the player was merely passing by another hole’s tee box. Golfshot should resume tracking the last shot as soon as it detected that the player was still working towards the unfinished green.
