App is ok... but could be better!
I enjoy using the app, but there are quite a few bugs (randomly freezes, slow response). Things that need improvement: *enhance photo features to include the ability to magnify and control what I’m magnifying (currently not available) *put a “refresh” button on app next to time countdown (would be especially useful at end of auction)- there is currently no refresh button and swiping phone screen has bugs *create a 5 minute auction extension on items where bids are made in the last 5 minutes (you’ll make more money this way, and it gives serious bidders a chance to rebid against bidding snipers (check out EBTH app) *GOLD trophy “you are high bidder” icon does not show on the app in the “Auctions in Progress” section. *Allow “notifications” to go to cell phone- text messages and not just email (I rarely check email, and miss many outbid notices)
App slow. Whole process sketchy.
I was happy to hear that Goodwill was doing this until I really started using the app.
The app needs work. It won’t notify you of ending auctions. That’s not too bad.
What bothers me is that anything electronic you purchase at your own risk. You could spend $100 on something and find it doesn’t work. You’re out of luck, $100 down the tubes. Here’s why that bothers me. I’ve been looking for old record players. They will auction one with speakers built in and say “not tested, we don’t have proper equipment to test. In other words they’d rather not plug it in and test it by grabbing a record of which any Goodwill store has tons on. They want zero responsibility. “It was donated but too bad as long as we made our money”. That’s what their auctions should read. Some cases I get it but when all you have to do is plug in a record player and see if it plays then I don’t see what the issue is. Takes 5 minutes to test if that. So they take free donations and resell all at the buyers risk. So beware of what you purchase. They can test most these electronics but obviously refuse to because they just want your money. At least do further testing other than; plugged in, light goes on.
Good, if you don’t try to bid with it.
Goodwill’s shop online is already kinda quirky, but this app makes it even worse. I have lost multiple bids just due to it’s lack of responsiveness. Maybe it’s the IOS, but if I try to bid it takes time and multiple taps to reciprocate. I can’t always check out either. I get to the point where I can select payment type, but cannot pass “go” to finish the order. This is the majority of the time. My bet is it’s likely the site and app not playing nice together, but something has to change.
Final words...it’s great to browse and save to “watch list”, but do your bidding on the PC.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
