Classroom is a free service for schools, non-profits, and anyone with a personal Google account. Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect—inside and outside of schools. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized.
Classroom is designed to help teachers create, collect, and grade assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.
Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.
With the mobile app for iOS, students and teachers can view their classes and communicate with their classmates in real time. Students can open their assignments and work on them right from their iPhone or iPad. Teachers can keep track of who has turned in work and grade the assignment - at school or on the go. Students and teachers receive notifications when they have new content in Classroom, so they are always up to date.
There are many benefits of using Classroom:
Easy to set up
Teachers can add students directly or share a code with their class to join. It takes just minutes to set up.
The simple, paperless assignment workflow allows teachers to create, review, and grade assignments quickly, all in one place.
Students can see all of their assignments on an assignments page, and all class materials (e.g., documents, photos, and videos) are automatically filed into folders in Google Drive.
Classroom allows teachers to send announcements and start class discussions instantly. Students can share resources with each other or provide answers to questions on the stream.
Affordable and secure
Like the rest of G Suite for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, never uses your content or student data for advertising purposes, and is free.
Camera: Needed to allow the user to take photos or videos and post them to Classroom.

As much school work that I get a day, can average about 13 hours of work. At school & at home. 8 hours of school plus 5 hours of homework is outrageous. 91 hours of my time goes into school work for 1 week. When do I sleep? Because as soon as I’m done with homework, I have to study for a test or multiple tests. Or wait, on top of all the school work I need to do a project for extra credit because without getting proper sleep I’m struggling in some classes. This app has helped me manage my time and assignments wisely amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. I sat at my computer for 13 hours today doing school work (including breaks to eat and use the bathroom of course) but nothing else. Keep in mind, my teachers put all my work for the entire week on google classroom. It is currently 1:49 a.m and I still have more work to do but not near as much as I would’ve using regular schooling methods such as sitting in a classroom for 8 hours. By utilizing google classroom and managing my time, I fit 91 hours of school work (a weeks worth) into 13 hours (1 day of school work). I’m thankful for Google Classroom. I will now be able to start a healthy sleep schedule (starting tomorrow obviously) and keep my mental health stable as well. I now have free time for the rest of the week. So thank you to the creators!
I’m a student, so I was required to download this app for school purposes, and it glitches so much. Every single time it updates they say that they’re making it “better,” but really, it just messes up all my classes. It has deleted my classes before, and because I need to be able to access those classes to be able to get and turn in my work, it affected my grades. The “to do” section seems like it would be really helpful, telling you what you have left to do and when it’s due, but it glitches so much that it’s an inconvenience. I tried to access it the other day to find out what homework I had to finish, and instead of showing me what was due the next day, it displayed all the homework I had ever been assigned for every class I was currently enrolled in, marked as missing even though I had turned it in months ago. This app is terrible, and what makes it even worse is that if they just put a little effort into it, it would make classes more convenient and accessible, but instead it’s doing the opposite. Along with all of that, it’s super slow. Every time I try to open it, it takes an exorbitant amount of time to load, even when literally everything else that I might need WiFi for works fine. Even if I go to a place that I know has faster WiFi in an attempt to fix this problem somehow, the app still takes the same crazy long amount of time to load.
